Thug sé an-aire do Mhuire agus iad ar an slí go Beithil. Nuair a chuala sé go raibh sé i gceist ag an Rí Herod Íosa a mharú, d’éalaigh sé go dtí an Éigipt ar feadh cúpla bliain. Bhí ómós aige do Dhia agus lean sé a chuid orduithe i gcónaí. Tá dhá lá fhéile ag Iósaf an t-Oibrí, an 19ú Márta agus 1ú Bealtaine.
