Machnamh

The fruit of silence is prayer
The fruit of prayer is faith
The fruit of faith is love
The fruit of love is service
The fruit of service is peace.
(Mother Teresa)
Ar Lá Breithe na Maighdine Muire
A Mhuire a Mhaighdean, níor chualathas riamh
éinne a cuireadh faoi do chúram fial nach
bhfuair sólás is nach bhfuair síth.
Is tú réalt na mara,
is tú réalt na maidine
is tú réalt na hoíche,
is tú réalt na n-aingeal,
is tú bláthfhleasc na bhFlaitheas.
Dé do bheatha, a Mhuire na ngrásta,
agus dé do bheatha, a Bhanríon ghrámhar,
Is beannaithe thú thar na mnáibh
is is beannaither Íosa, do NaomhPháiste.
(Ár bPaidreacha Dúchais – Diarmuid Ó Laoighaire)

Mother Teresa
Born in 1910, in Skopje, Macedonia, Mother Teresa taught in India for 17 years before she experienced her 1946 “call within a call” to devote herself to caring for the sick and poor. Her order established a hospice; centres for the blind, aged, and disabled; and a leper colony. In 1979 she received the Nobel Peace Prize for her humanitarian work. She died in September 1997 and was beatified in October 2003. In December 2015, Pope Francis recognized a second miracle attributed to Mother Teresa, clearing the way for her to be canonized as a saint this Sunday, September 4, 2016.
