Machnamh

I rise today
with God’s strength to direct me,
God’s wisdom to guide me,
God’s eyes to look before me,
God’s ear to hear me,
God’s word to speak to me,
God’s hand to uphold me,
God’s pathway before me,
God’s shield to protect me,
God’s host to save me –
from temptations,
from one man or many
that seek to destroy me. Amen.

Smaoineamh
Every place needs Christian witnesses. Christ says, ‘Witness to me before men’. It’s in the world we have to stand up and be counted. It’s not good enough to be secret disciples of Christ. We have to give public witness to our Christian faith.
What we are likely to face is not so much hostility or opposition, but something which is even harder – a deadly indifference. To witness in this case requires a special kind of courage. It means overcoming our fear of what people will think of us or say about us, and the fear of what it will cost us in terms of letting go of our ego.

Pray for Paddy O’Sullivan, Tubber. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
