Machnamh
Lord, give me the courage and commitment of
St. Brendan to navigate my voyage through life.
To be challenged by the spirit of
the Monks on Skellig.
To be inspired by all of those around me
who selflessly care for others.
To play my part to help everybody
live life with dignity.
Give me the vision to see injustice
and the courage to challenge it.
To be revived in body and spirit
by nature round about me.
Lord, show me how to play my part in my church.
Inspire me to help make Mass central
to my life and the life of my community.
Lord, with the help of St. Brendan,
lead me through the turbulent voyage of life.
Help me to be satisfied with the answers
for today and, like you,
to trust in God our Father for tomorrow.

Smaoineamh
The one thing Jesus has commanded us to do is to love one another. It is a new commandment only in the sense that it sets a new standard – ‘as I have loved you’. Often Christians have gone after worldly success, and in many cases have achieved it. But in so doing they have forgotten the one thing Jesus expects from them, namely, love. ‘By this all will know that you are my disciples.’
