Thought for the day: The days of spring lengthen and Lent echoes nature inviting us as well to a new springtime of faith. As in farming and gardening, there is work to be done if new growth is to flourish or even to happen at all. We have to look back and see what has done well and what has, in effect, died off. We need to make space by clearing the ground and looking at ourselves honestly. It would be good to identify what will feed and sustain us during this journey from the ashes of Ash Wednesday to the new birth of the Easter. Prayer: In this springtime, creator God, we watch new life appear from the dark earth after the night of winter. Help us also to grow. In us, there is darkness and night; yet we know that you can bring us once more to life. Amen.

Synodal Path: Pope Francis’s Invitation & Our Response. Pope Francis has invited every member of the Church throughout the world to share their experiences, insights and hopes for the Church. Every diocese has been asked to give opportunities for reflection, discussion and feedback in preparation for the Synod of Bishops in 2023. Here in the Diocese of Kerry there is the opportunity to share your thoughts on-line or to participate in person in the next 2 months. For details see: https://www.dioceseofkerry.ie/Synod
Daily Prayer for Synodal Listening
God our Father, Pope Francis has asked us to pray, discuss and listen, so that we might grow stronger in communion, more aware of our mission, and truly participate in the life of our Church. May the Holy Spirit help us to hear His voice during this time of listening in our Diocese. We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.
Pope Francis: I would like to appeal to those with political responsibility to examine their consciences seriously before God, who is the God of peace and not of war; who is the Father of all, not just of some, who wants us to be brothers and not enemies. I pray that all the parties involved refrain from any action that would cause even more suffering to the people of Ukraine.
Parish Masses: It will no longer be necessary to wear facemasks at Mass. However, should people wish to continue to wear masks, they are welcome to do so. The following measures will remain in place:
(i) Communion can only be received in the hand for the moment.
(ii) hand sanitisation is advised.
(iii) You can place your offering for the offertory collection in the building fund boxes at the back of the churches.
Your co-operation is very much appreciated.
Trócaire and Dues Envelopes 2022
The Spring and Easter Dues Envelopes and Trócaire Boxes have now been distributed. Buíochas to the Contact People who distribute them. Spare envelopes and Trócaire Boxes are available at the back of the three Parish Churches. NB: If paying by cheque please make it payable to Tigh an tSagairt for the Dues and Dingle Parish for Trócaire.
Trócaire works all year round to help people who live in places where climate change, Covid, conflict, injustice and poverty are among the obstacles to living life to the full. This year, the Lenten story focuses on Thandekile and her family from Zimbabwe. Trócaire works with groups who are on the ground working for a better tomorrow. The crisis in Ukraine is a devastating humanitarian disaster, which people in Ireland are responding to with deep compassion. The most effective way to provide support to the people of Ukraine, is to donate money to humanitarian agencies that are working on the ground in Ukraine and Poland, like Trócaire. The generosity of the people of Ireland is deeply appreciated. Every cent and euro donated to Trócaire will be used to support people who are facing deep crisis, and to ensure no-one is forgotten.
Your support this Lent will go a long way to help. “A better tomorrow shouldn’t be only for some. A better tomorrow should belong to us all.” (Trócaire Lenten pack 2022).
Visit trócaire.org to donate.
