Thought for the day: Our expression “to have time for someone” is a heart-warming one, because giving time to someone is a real gift of myself, part of our consciousness of being human. The opposite, lack of time, is expressed in another idiom “Money rich but time poor.” To be poor in time is a great deprivation, even when self-inflicted. It is all a question of perspective, values and choices. We do need to value the fleeting time we have and not live only towards a future, as yet unreal, moment. In the words of St Paul, Look, now is the acceptable time; look, now is the day of salvation! (2 Corinthians 6:2) Prayer: Help me, eternal God, to accept your gift of the present moment. It is the only moment I will ever have, so let me inhabit it richly and fully, and celebrate your gift of life in abundance.
Pope Francis on X: Prayer is what keeps the lamp of the heart lit. When we feel our enthusiasm wane, prayer fans the flame, because it brings us back to God, to the center of everything. Prayer reawakens the soul and focuses us on what matters and the purpose of existence.

Oh God, Our Father, thank you for giving us Carlo, a life example for the young and a message of love for everyone. You made him become enamoured with your Son Jesus, Making of the Eucharist his “Highway to Heaven”. You gave him Mary, as a most loving Mother, and, with the Rosary, you made him a poet of her tenderness. Receive his prayer for us. Above all, gaze upon the poor, whom he loved and helped. Grant for me too, by his intercession, the grace that I need … And make our joy fulfilled, placing Carlo among the Saints of your Church, so that his smile may shine again for us in the glory of your name. Amen
Week of Witness/Red Wednesday: Some 360 million Christians live in countries where they are persecuted for their faith. Each year, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) Ireland, highlights their plight during the ‘Week of Witness’ (Nov. 17-24). Red Wednesday (Nov. 20) is the highlight of the week, and Catholics are urged to keep the suffering Church in their prayers in a special way. More info www.acnireland.org
