Thought for the day: Jesus had the gift of saying things directly and plainly, with a power to penetrate all our defences and lead us to a new awareness. Today’s message puts before us the paradox of the Gospel: we gain life by letting go of it. If I put my happiness, my being loved, at the centre of my life, then I will surely fail, even though to be loved and to be happy are really important. If on the other hand I put the happiness of others first and love them unconditionally, then I too will know unselfish love and deep happiness. This is the very insight and wisdom that Jesus puts before us as the key not just to love but to life and within that, the key to authentic discipleship precisely as a way of life. Mission Appeal – The Spiritan Fathers, will visit the Parish this weekend, August 29th and 30th and will preach at the 7.30pm Mass in Ceann Trá. A second collection will be taken up after Communion for their appeal.
Diocesan Collection in aid of Diocesan Needs will be taken up as a second collection after Communion next weekend September 5th/ 6th.

Pope’s Intention for September: For the care of water. Let us pray for a just and sustainable management of water, a vital resource, so that everyone may have equal access to it.
The Season of Creation begins on Tuesday, September 1st , the World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation, and continues until October 4th, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi. This year’s theme is ‘Living Water’ and is inspired by Ezekiel 47:9, 12 – a powerful biblical vision of hope and ecological renewal. Set against the backdrop of exile and loss, the prophet’s image of living water flowing from God’s sanctuary reveals God’s healing presence, bringing new life to rivers, land, biodiversity and communities, while calling us to renewed care for the whole Earth community. All are invited to participate in an activity or take action to care for creation. A special leaflet containing ideas and practical suggestions is available. A new Dementia Activity Group ‘Sonas Le Chéile’ is commencing on Thursday, September 17th from 11.00am-1.00pm in Benners Hotel, Dingle.The group will meet monthly. People with dementia, their families, friends, and carers are welcome. The morning will consist of social interaction, gentle activities, music, song and reminiscences. Donate terminals, located at the back of St Mary’s Church, are programmed to donate €5 to the Parish each time they are used.
Gluten Free hosts are available from the priest at Communion time.
