Thought for the day: In today’s parable, the offence is to be found in the blindingly obvious answer to the question Jesus sets. The application is then very sharp: those who seemingly never have experienced sin and conversion (who are they?) are quick to judge others who come to God through failure and fracture. It is like the 99 who have no need of conversion, we may doubt that they ever really existed! A certain complacency can mark any settled religious group and if we add to that self-righteousness, then the mix is explosive and we are far from the Gospel as preached by Jesus. Prayer: Blessed are they who know their need of God (Mt 5:3). May we recognise ourselves as part of the community of the needy and show the compassion of Jesus to all without distinction. Pope Leo XVI on X: Sunday, September 27th, marks the World Day of Migrants and Refugees. My thoughts go out to migrants and refugees, especially minors compelled to leave their homeland. Children and teenagers are the most vulnerable. They often endure unspeakable suffering, violence, torture, exploitation, and traumatic conditions. It is not uncommon for them to lose their lives along migration routes. I appeal to everyone’s sense of responsibility: may we all feel a sense of involvement in the lives of these young people, who must always be protected and supported.

Donations from these two envelopes support your priest’s income. We appreciate you returning these envelopes at your earliest convenience. Parking and access to St Mary’s Church during the Dingle Food Festival: Green Street will be closed from 11am until 5.30pm on Saturday October 3rd and 1pm to 6pm on Sunday Oct 4th. Mass goers will have access to Green St from 5.30pm. There will be limited parking available.
