Parish Envelope Scheme and Calendar
In the next few days every household will receive, if they have not done so already, a Féilire Eaglasta 2010 and a box of envelopes for your weekly offertory contribution. Also included is an envelope for your Christmas Dues contribution or you can use the envelope provided in your 2009 Box of Envelopes. The Offertory collection funds all running costs and maintenance in our Parish, including insurance, staffing and Diocesan Levy. Tax can also be claimed back by the Parish if any PAYE taxpayer has contributed over €250. We invite every household to participate in this scheme and invite new parishioners to register by contacting the Parish Office on 9151208. A full account of both income and expenditure will be published in the New Year. We thank all our collectors, committee members, counting teams and teangmhálaithe / contact people who serve tirelessly in this essential Parish work. Spare envelopes for Christmas Dues are available at the back of the three Parish Churches.
Spare 2010 calendars are now available at the back of the Church for any visitors or should you wish to send one to family member living elsewhere.
Go méadaí Dia bhúr stór.
Crib Donations For BETHLEHEM and AFRICA
Your donations given through our three Parish Cribs will go directly to aid needy people in Africa and the Middle East. Local lay missionary Liz Uí hUiginn will embark on her Volunteer Missionary Movement African Project as teacher in a Catholic Secondary School. Monies donated will help fund the provision of necessary materials which otherwise would not be available or affordable for the students.
The Order of Malta run a maternity hospital adjacent to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem. As no grant aid comes from Israeli or Palestinian authorities to support the care of 22,000 mothers and their babies annually, we are invited to show solidarity in this practical way. Your generous contributions last Christmas greatly helped both Fr. Martin and Fr. P.J. and their Kiltegan missionary outreach to the destitute and refugee families in their care. Bígí fial flaithiúil arís.
St. Vincent de Paul Society
The members of the local St. Vincent de Paul Society would like to thank all who contributed to their recent Church gate collection at which a total of €3,700 was given. Míle buíochas libh.
For your information our permanent collection box is in the St. Mary’s Church Porch where we welcome all donations.
Ba mhór le scoláirí na 3ú bliana i bPobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne a mbuíochas ó chroí a ghabháil le gach duine a thug go fial agus go flaithiúlach do bhailiúchán bhliantúil Naomh Uinseann de Pól ar an 4 & 11 Nollaig 2009. Bailíodh €3,000 idir an dá lá. Ba mhaith leo freisin a mbuíochas a ghabháil do úinéirí siopaí agus an fhoireann a bhíonn an cabhrach leo i gcónaí. Sé seo an 10ú bliain as a chéile don imeacht seo a thosnaigh i Méanscoil na mBráithre i 2000.
The Priests of the Parish and all our parishioners are most grateful to all individuals and groups who have helped during the year: – Sacristans, Organists, the Choirs, the Servers, the Cleaners, flower and altar arrangers, crib makers and helpers, the Ministers of the Word and of the Eucharist, collectors, counters, those who distribute the envelopes to your homes; also our housekeeper and secretary. We wish to thank all teachers in the Parish and all the voluntary groups who do so much for the community – The St. Vincent de Paul Society, Legion of Mary, the Pioneers, the Pastoral Council, the Liturgy groups, the Temperance Hall Committee.
NB: Because of the adverse weather conditions and holiday forecast we remind and invite all of you to keep a watchful and caring eye out for all our Parishioners who live alone.
Ní neart go chur le chéile
Ar scáth a chéile maireann Pobal Dé.
(1) Fáilte romhat a Rí na nAingeal
Fáilte romhat, a Rí na nAingeal
Tréis do ghlactha, a choirp an Rí;
Fáilte romhat, a Rí na bhflaitheas.
Fóir, a Chríost, gach duine dínn.
Dia do bheatha, a Thiarna Dia,
Dia is duine thu, a Íosa Críost;
Dia do bheatha, a bhláth is gile,
Tusa beatha cách go fíor.
Fáilte romhat, a Ri na nAingeal
T’réis do ghlactha, a choirp an Rí;
Fáilte romhat, a Ri na bhflaitheas.
Fóir, a Chríost, gach duine dínn.
(2) Adeste Fideles
Adeste Fideles laeti triumphantes,
Veníte, veníte in Bethlehem.
Natum vidéte, Regem Angelorum:
Veníte adoremus, (3) Dóminum.
Deum de Deo, lumen de lúmine,
gestant puellae viscera
Deum verum, genitum non factum:
Veníte adoremus, (3) Dóminum.
(3) O Come All Ye Faithful
O Come All Ye Faithful
Joyful and triumphant,
O come ye, O come ye to Bethlehem.
Come and behold Him,
Born the King of Angels;
O come, let us adore Him, (3).
Christ the Lord.
O Sing, choirs of angels,
Sing in exultation,
Sing all that hear in heaven God’s holy word.
Give to our Father glory in the Highest;
O come, let us adore Him, (3)
Christ the Lord.
(4) Silent Night
Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright
Round yon Virgin Mother and Child
Holy Infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace
Silent night, holy night!
Shepherds quake at the sight
Glories stream from heaven afar
Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia!
Christ, the Saviour is born
Christ, the Saviour is born
Oíche Chiúin
Oíche Chiúin, oíche Mhic Dé,
cách ‘na suan, dís araon.
dís is dílise ‘s faire le spéir,
Naoín beag gnaoigeal ceannan-tais caomh.
Críost ‘na chodladh go séimh,
Críost ‘na chodladh go séimh.
Oíche chiúin, oíche Mhic Dé,
aoirí ar dtús chuala an scéal,
alleluia, aingeal ag glaoch,
cantain suairc i ngar is i gcéin,
Críost an Slánaitheoir féin,
Críost an Slánaitheoir féin.
Paidir nuair a lasfaí an choinneal mhór Oíche Nollag Mór.
‘Solas na soilse chugainn agus radharc na Trionóide agus grásta na foighne in aghaidh na héagóra.’
Tógfaí an choinneal don bhfuinneog agus cuirfí ina seasamh i lár an urláir í, agus fágfaí lasta go maidean í, agus ar aghaidh na fuinneoige ach í a bheith ar an urlár. Agus ní chuirfí aon bholta ar na ndoras an oíche sin, mar ghéillidís go dtiocfadh an Mhaighdean Mhuire agus an Leanbh Íosa, go dtéidís ó thigh go tigh gach aon Oíche Nollag. (Bab Firtéar – Béaloideas)
Le Coinnle na n-Aingeal
Le coinnle na n-Aingeal tá an spéir amuigh breachta
Tá fiacail an tseaca sa ghaoth ón gconc
Adaigh an tine is teir chun na leapan
Luífidh Mac Dé ins an tigh seo anocht.
Fágaig’ an doras ar leathadh ina coinne
An Mhaighdean a thiocfaidh is a Naí ar a h-ucht
Deonaigh do shuaimhneas a ligint a Mhuire
Luífidh Mac Dé ins an tigh seo anocht
Bhí soilse ar lasadh i dtigh sin na h-aíochta
Cóiriú gan caoile, bia agus deoch
Do cheannaithe ola, do cheannaithe síoda
Ach luífidh Mac Dé ins an tigh seo anocht.

The Kerry Christmas Carol
Brush the floor and clean the hearth,
And set the fire to keep,
For they might visit us tonight
When all the world’s asleep.
Don’t blow the tall white candle out
But leave it burning bright,
So that they’ll know they’re welcome here
This holy Christmas night.
Leave out the bread and meat for them,
And sweet milk for the Child,
And they will bless the fire that baked
And, too, the hands that toiled.
For Joseph will be travel-tired,
And Mary pale and wan,
And they can sleep a little while
Before they journey on.
They will be weary of the roads,
And rest will comfort them,
For it must be many a lonely mile
From here to Bethlehem.
O long the road they have to go,
The bad mile with the good,
Till the journey ends on Calvary
Beneath a Cross of wood.
Leave the door upon the latch,
And set the fire to keep,
And pray they’ll rest with us tonight
When all the world’s asleep. (Sigerson Clifford)
