Dear Parishioners,
Our Parish Finance Committee would be most grateful to the households who received the Taxback forms and have not yet sent them back, if they could return them as soon as is convenient in the envelopes provided. Completing the form will cost you nothing, but will greatly benefit the parish as you saw in our published financial accounts for 2009, when we acknowledged the sum of €14,714.50 received as Tax Rebate from the Revenue. Imogen Stuart – McAuley Medal
Congratulations to Imogen Stuart the renowned Sculptor who was presented by President Mary McAleese with the McAuley Medal at a ceremony on Friday in Mary Immaculate College. To date, six of Imogen’s works are in the College collection. Mrs. Stuart is best known in West Kerry, for her bronze statue in St. Mary’s Church, Dingle of the Madonna Group Our Lady of Good Counsel which was commissioned by Bishop Diarmaid Ó Súilleabháin in 1980 when he was Parish Priest. The McAuley Medal was instituted in 2008 to recognise people who have made an exceptional personal contribution to advancing the welfare of the community. The McAuley Medal, is according to College President Dr. Peadar Ó Croimin the highest award that can be bestowed by the M. I. It is named in memory of Catherine McAuley, the founder of the Catholic Sisters of Mercy whose outstanding dedication to the most marginalized members of the community continues to inform the College’s ethos.
Imogen’s Statue in Our Porch
The Virgin is reading to two children the prophecy of Isaiah foretelling the coming of her Son – “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government will be upon his shoulder, and his name will be called “Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Óir rugadh leanbh dúinn, tugadh mac dúinn; tá an tiarnas ar a ghualainn, agus is é ainm atá air: “Comhairleoir iontach, Dia láidir, Athair síoraí, Prionsa na síochána”.” Isaiah 9:6.

Our Parish Mission 2010
Redemptorist Frs. Séamus Enright and Seán Duggan will visit our Parish again on Thursday Sept 9th next in Teach na Sagart at 8pm. We invite along all parishioners who met with them on their previous visits and any others who would like to join us, especially Youth Leaders, Club Members, Third Level Students, etc, as we work to continue to design and plan our Parish Mission (Nov. 6th – 13th). As part of their pre-planning work Fr. Seán and Fr. Séamus hope to visit every school in our Parish on Thursday next to organize and co-ordinate with staff and students their November Mission programme for all our Schools.
As homes in Dingle town were visited in conjunction with our Neighbourhood Station Masses after Easter, Frs. Tomás and Bernard hope to visit all homes in the Ceann Trá and Lios Póil Station Areas in preparation for our Mission.
OUR MISSION PRAYER
Heavenly Father,
We ask you to bless us,
As we prepare for our Parish Mission in November.
Open our hearts to Your grace,
That we may be more faithful
In following Your way.
Bless all families in our parish
At home and afar,
Especially those families
That are experiencing difficulties.
Bless the old, the young, the lonely,
The poor, the sick, the unemployed,
Those in sorrow, those in despair,
Those who have lost their way.
May Your love be upon us, O Lord
As we place all our hope in you. Amen.
PAIDIR D’ÁR MISEAN
A Athair neamhaí
Iarraimid ort sinn a bheannú
Agus sinn ag ullmhú do Mhisean an Pharóiste i Mí na Samhna.
Oscail ár gcroíthe dod ghrásta
Go mbeimid níos dílse
Ag leanúint do shlí.
Leag go fial do bheannacht ar na teaghlaigh inár bparóiste
Ar ár bpobal sa bhaile agus i gcéin,
Go h’áirithe na teaghlaigh sin atá i gcruachás.
Beannaigh idir óg agus críonna, uaigneach
Bocht, breoite, iad siúd atá in isle brí,
Iad siúd a chaill a slí
Go dtitfidh do ghrá orainn, a Thiarna
Agus sinn ag cur ár ndóchas i dtaisce ionat. Amen
