Thought for the day: “The world needs forgiveness; too many people are caught up in resentment and harbour hatred because they are incapable of forgiving. They ruin their own lives and the lives of those around them rather than finding the joy of serenity and peace.” (Pope Francis in Assisi in 2016) His point is that those who do not forgive, who hold on to resentment, hurt themselves almost as much, even if they are unaware of it for a while. Prayer: God, always ready to forgive, we thank you for your forgiving love. Give us the grace to show the same love and forgiveness to all. Amen (www.tarsus.ie)
Pope Leo XVI on X: In Jesus Christ, God chose the humblest historical circumstances and the humblest of creatures, Mary, to reveal the originality of His Kingdom, in which arrogance has no place and omnipotence means creation, service, and care for life.
Pope’s Intention for September: For the care of water. Let us pray for a just and sustainable management of water, a vital resource, so that everyone may have equal access to it.
