Thought for the Day: What is distinctive about our faith as Christians? We do not believe in a system of ideas or even in a higher ethics: we believe in a person, who gives life “a new horizon and a decisive direction” (Benedict XVI). John’s Gospel makes this clear with its great I am sentences, one of which we hear today: “I am the gate.” Naturally, we think the gate to what? The gate to life to the full. The risk today is to set our expectations low, to be happy with less. But the Gospel calls not to be half alive, but to be fully alive. Let us enter by the gate himself, because the gate to life is always open. Prayer: Often, loving Lord, we find ourselves astray and defenceless. Let us recognise your voice, calling us one by one as you call us to follow you. Amen. (Fr Kieran O’Mahony)

Live Streaming: Camera will be turned on for ceremonies only. Only funerals will be recorded and will be available for 1 month. Other masses will not be recorded.

Pope Leo XIV on X: In a world wounded by arrogance, people hunger and thirst for justice. We must encourage those who believe in peace and dare to engage in “countercurrent” politics, which focus on the common good. What is urgently needed is the courage of new visions and an educational pact that gives young people space and trust.

There will be a Church Gate Collection in aid of Hope Guatemala on Saturday May 2nd and Sunday May 3rd outside St. Mary’s Church. Hope Guatemala’s Cake Sale & Raffle will be held in Dick Mac’s Yard on Sunday May 3rd after Mass until 3.00pm.

A Thiarna Íosa, tar chugam.

A Thiarna Íosa, tabhair dom do ghrá.

A Thiarna Íosa, tar chugam

agus tabhair tú féin dom.

A Thiarna Íosa, a chara na bpáistí,

tar chugam.

A Thiarna Íosa, is tú mo Thiarna

agus mo Dhia.

Moladh leat, a Thiarna Íosa Críost.

Áiméan.

Paidir tar éis Comaoine (Leanaí)

Fáilte romhat, a Íosa,

Céad míle fáilte romhat,

Fáilte romhat a shlánaitheoir,

Céad míle fáilte romhat.

Táim réidh anois a Íosa chun mo ghrá a thaispeáint duit

Táim réidh anois chun mo ghrá a thaispeáint sa bhaile,

ar scoil, agus i ngach áit eile.

A Íosa Mhilis,

Ní suíochán duit mo theanga,

Ní lóistín duit mo chroí,

Ach bronn orm do bheannaitheacht

Is go bhfana sé ’gam chuí.
