Thought for the Day: The Trinity is not first of all a puzzle, which in principle could be solved, bur rather a mystery, a relationship which is first of all lived, never exhausted and only inadequately spoken of in words. This is true of any of the significant relationships in our lives and true, therefore, all the more so of God. Within the mystery of that relationship, we recognise God, from whom we come, in whom we live and move and have our being. We recognise the Son, the way, the truth and the life. We recognise the Spirit, who helps us to pray when we do not know how to pray as we ought. Prayer: The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be upon us all. Amen.
(Fr Kieran O’Mahony)
Pope Leo XIV on X: When it comes to decisions regarding economic flows and digital platforms, as well as the governance of data and algorithms, we cannot allow a handful of actors to dictate these processes on their own. Instead, we must build forms of cooperation that respect the various levels of the global community and make them jointly responsible for the common good.
The Pope’s Intention for May: For the values of sports. Let us pray that sports be an instrument of peace, encounter, and dialogue among cultures and nations, and that they promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.

Magnificent Humanity – ‘Magnifica Humanitas’ – Pope Leo’s Encyclical, which was published this week. The following are some quotes from it.
“The magnificent humanity created by God stands today before a decisive choice: to erect a new Tower of Babel or to build the holy city, where God and humanity dwell together.”
“An understanding of the human being cannot be separated from the Incarnation, for ‘only in the mystery of the Incarnate Word does the mystery of man find true light’.
Without this reference, progress risks reducing the person to a function, a statistic, or a performance.”
“The encyclical distinguishes various dimensions of dignity, but emphasises one decisive aspect, which does not depend on circumstances or individual abilities. It is clearly stated that there exists ‘a deeper, more important level, which consists in “ontological dignity”’specifying that this ‘belongs to every human being simply by virtue of their existence’.”
