Thought for the day: Our Gospel reading today has some harsh dimensions and most likely it reflects not the teaching of Jesus directly but the practices in the church for which Matthew was writing. People who refuse to acknowledge their failures are to be treated as pagans and tax collectors! But just how are pagans and tax collectors treated by Jesus and in the Gospel of Matthew? They are welcomed and forgiven! Any permanent exclusion is to be resisted on the example and teaching of Jesus himself. Prayer: We believe your word to us that where two or three are gathered in your name you are in our midst. Help us to recognise you in all our brothers and sisters, whatever their failures or sins. The Season of Creation is celebrated each year from 1 September to 4 October, bringing Christians throughout the world together in prayer, reflection and action for the care of our common home. The theme for Season of Creation 2026 is “Living Water”, inspired by the prophet Ezekiel’s vision of a life-giving river flowing from the Temple: “Wherever the river flows, every living creature shall live.” Ezekiel 47:9

Creator of all, we praise you for the gift of life and for the faith that unites us in care for our common home. We confess how estranged we have become— from one another, from your Creation, and from our truest selves. We acknowledge that our greed and destructive impulses have fractured our relationships with you, with others, and with the Earth. Fertile fields have become barren, forests lie desolate, oceans and rivers are polluted. Thriving communities have become places of suffering, and the earth cries out. Amen.

A Commemorative Walk, in memory of Aisling Joyce and Mary Lynch, in aid of Kerry Hospice Foundation, will take place on Saturday, September 12th starting at the Marina Dingle at 3.30pm.

A new Dementia Activity Group ‘Sonas Le Chéile’ is commencing on Thursday, September 17th from 11.00am-1.00pm in Benners Hotel, Dingle.The group will meet monthly.
