PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE

Dear Parishioners,

As it is now possible for our Parish to claim back tax paid on charitable donations, our Parish Finance Committee is most grateful to the eligible householders who have returned their Taxback forms. We welcome all as this generosity greatly helps our Parish when you realise it yielded the sum of €16,630.50 for the last Tax year.

Go méadaí Dia bhúr stór.

Dear Fr. Ó Luanaigh,

We took more pleasure out of our visit than you may think. Yes wasn’t it great that Fr. Marc’s mother could actually see him on your altar from far away Rhineland. I am always saying that we live in a world of miracles. When I was young, in the ‘40’s, none of our family had even a bike, our clock was a “wag-on-the-wall”, our fuel was turf, our lighting was candles, and mammy cooked over an open fire. Today’s kids don’t know how well off they are.

Yours Sincerely, Colm and Kay Culleton, Co. Carlow.

Rath Dé ar Dingle Regatta

A Thiarna, ofrálaim an rás seo duit.

Ofrálaim m’iarracht duit mar urnaí agus

déanfad mo dhícheall.

Is tábhachtaí m’iompar sa naomhóg inniu ná fuinneamh mo ghéag sa rás.

Má dheinim go maith cabhraigh liom

éirí in airde a sheachaint,

Mioscais má bhuaitear orainn agus fearg,

formad agus fíoch.

Ach, a Thiarna, táim ag tnúth leis an mbua.

Tabhair cúnamh dom, más ea, mo dhícheall a dhéanamh agus gur leor sin chun an chraobh a bhreith. AMEN

Blessing of Farm Machinery and Workers

Let us ask for God’s blessing on this equipment

and on all who use it.

Bless, Lord, this equipment,

designed to reap the harvest of riches

provided by you in the world.

May all who use it be kept safe from all danger

and may they thank you always

for the aid it provides in fulfilling your plan

to cultivate and subdue the land.

And may almighty God bless you all,

the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN

Machnamh: Our Christian Heritage

Phrases like ‘Bail ó Dhia ar an obair’ (God bless the work) and ‘Go gcuire Dia rath ar ár saothar’ which are still in common usage, indicate the depth to which Irish spirituality understood that God must be in every human endeavour, if it was to be meritorious. Everything done in the course of the ordinary day began, ended and was carried out in this spirit. Lighting of the fire in the morning, making the beds, going on a journey, entering a house, taking a drink, milking the cows, sowing the seed, mending a fishing net, making bread, when the clock would strike, lighting the candle, putting the baby to sleep, quenching the candle and even taking a pinch of snuff had its own prayer to sanctify it. That was the spirituality that would sanctify their days, their homes, their farms their places of work and recreation. It was the spirituality that could apply to any age and any place. It was the spirituality of the Little Flower, St. Therese – “to do the ordinary thing extraordinarily well for love of God”. Through these moments of grace the Kingdom of God was ushered in and the new heaven and new earth were being recreated. “Ag Críost an síol, ag Críost an fómhar, in iothlann Dé go dtugtar sinn.”

“Mairg Nach Molann Muire”

Dia Linn is Muire

Is ionann an méid sin agus a rá nach mbíonn sárnaofacht choíche san áit nach mbíonn a ceart onóra á thabhairt do Mhuire; agus, an té a bhíonn fuarchúiseach faoi Mhuire, gur lag agus gur leamh é a chreideamh, agus, más ar staid na ngrás féin dó, gur rud neambuan, briosc, so-threascartha a naofacht. Ar an gcuma gcéanna, an pobal críostaí nach dtugann onóir do Mhuire ach go haidhleasc agus go lagmheasartha, is pobal tur gan beocht é de cheal drúcht an Spioraid Naoimh.

Marriage Jubilee Blessing

We thank you, Lord, and we praise you

for the life we share together.

You have given us to each other.

Now, together, we give ourselves to you.

We ask you, Lord,

keep us one in our love,

keep us one in your peace.

Protect our marriage. Bless our home.

Make us gentle. Keep us faithful.

And when life is over, unite us again where parting is no more in the kingdom of your love.

There we will praise you in the happiness and peace

of our eternal home. AMEN

Lord God and Creator,

We bless and praise your name.

In the beginning you made man and woman,

so that they might enter a communion of life and love.

You likewise blessed the union of N. and N.,

so that they might reflect the union of

Christ with his Church;

look with kindness on them today.

Amid the joys and struggles of their life

you have preserved the union between them;

renew their marriage covenant,

increase your love in them,

and strengthen their bond of peace,

so that surrounded by their children

they may always rejoice in the gift of your blessing.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN.

Comhghairdeas ó chroí to all couples celebrating their wedding anniversaries and in particular to the Duffy family of Crumlin, Co. Antrim and the Bowen family, USA who are in Dingle this week for their Silver and Golden Jubilees respectively. Gura bhfada buan sibh.
