Blessing for Expectant Mothers
God, you formed man and woman in your own image and likeness and invited them to share with you in the creation of new life.
Bless this child; keep it safe and free from all harm.
Bless this mother; give her peace of mind and health of body, as she nourishes the new life within her.
Bless this father; give him strength and understanding to support this mother as their child grows within the womb. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Cuimhneachán na bhfíréan
“Is beannaithe na mairbh a fhaigheann bás sa Tiarna, as seo amach. Is beannaithe go deimhin, i dtreo go scuirfidh siad dá saothar mar tá a n-oibreacha á leanúint.” (Apac)

N. Caitlín – Alexandria & Fionn Trá
25ú Samhain.
Tá mór-chuid sheanchais ann i dtaobh Caitlín a saolaíodh i Alexandria san Éigipt agus mar dhéagóir éirimiúil d’iompaigh ina Críostaí. B’shin ré na Rómhánaigh ina daoradh chun bás na Críostaí ar fud na impireachta. Chuaigh Caitlín go cúirt Maxentius chun iarr ar an tImpir iompaigh ar Dhia agus Íosa Críost ach dhiúltaigh sé a cuireadh. Mar fhreagra sheol Maxentius buíon do 50 fhealsúnaí chuichi chun í ath-iompú ina págánach arís ach theip air. De réir dealramh d’iompaigh an bhuíon araon don Chríostaíocht comh maith le bheanchéile Maxentius agus 200 dá shaighdiúirí. Daoradh chun bás na Críostaí seo go léir agus chuireadh i bpríosún Caitlín féin. Tháinig Maxentius i láthair a phríosúnaigh chun ceiliúr pósta a chur ar Chaitlín. Sheán sí an cuireadh agus daoradh chun bás í tré mheán an roth chéasta agus nuair a theip ar an ngléas sin chuireadh chun bás í le claíomh i 310AD.
Tá deabhóid fé leith ag pobal Dé ar an mairtíreach seo i gCeann Trá mar is léir ó ainm na scoile, an t-séipéal agus an reilig. Bíonn an-cheiliúradh ar Lá Chaitlíona ag pobal an pharóiste le Aifreann na Féile, Turas don Reilig agus Cóisir san Halla. ‘Sí Patrún Cheann Trá le fada an lá í agus tá sí mar eisiompláir dúinn go léir i rith Bhliain an Chreidimh mar sheas sí an fód le crógacht agus le dílseacht. Seasann sí mar phatrún comh maith dos na fealsúnaí agus seanmóirí as ucht éachtaí Chaitlíona – laoch mór an chreidimh.

Paróiste Fionn Trá.
Suite fé Shliabh an Iolair,
Ag dearcadh ‘mach ar an gCuan,
Tá paróiste mo shean is mo shinnsear
Atá sa reilig anois ina suan.
Is ann a tógadh is a hoileadh mé
Is beidh im’ chroí go bráth
Cuimhní breá‘tha, deasa, buanna
Ar mo pharóiste féin – Fionn Trá.

Bhí aithne ‘gam ar na cómharsain
Ó Fán go Coum a’ Liaig
Cathair a’ Treanntaigh, Baile n’ Chóta
Gan trácht ar Bhaile tSlé.
Cathair Boilig, Ard a’Bhóthair
Agus suas fé Chíll a’ Ruith
Agus cómharsain Chíllmhicadomhnaigh,
Ní fhaca a sárú ó shin.

Dómhsa anois is uaigneach,
An turas a thugaim ort,
Tá cairde m’óige imithe
Cuid acu thall thar s’rúth,
An spórt, an scléip, an caidreamh
A bhíodh againne tráth
Agus sinne óg agus aerach,
Im Pharóiste féin – Fionn Trá.
