Comhghairdeas leis na buachaillí agus cailíní ó Scoil Cill Mhic a’ Domhnaigh agus Scoil Cheann Trá a fuair  Chéad Chomaoineach inné.

Paidir tar éis Comaoineach

A Thiarna Íosa, gráim agus adhraim thú.

Is tú mo chara dílis.

Fáilte romhat, a Thiarna Íosa.

Go raibh maith agat as teacht chugam.

Go raibh maith agat, a Thiarna Íosa,

As ucht tú féin a thabhairt dom.

Cabhraigh liom do ghrá a léiriú

Cibé áit a mbím.

Bí taobh liom, a Thiarna Íosa,

Fan in aice liom go deo.

Beannaigh sinn, na páistí, atá faoi do chúram

Agus tabhair ar neamh sinn chun cónaithe leat féin.

Táim réidh anois, a Thiarna Íosa,

Tá grá agam go leor.

Táim réidh anois le do ghrá a thabhairt

Sa bhaile is don saol mór.

Allihies Parish

Bishop Bill Murphy would like to inform the people of the diocese that from July 2011, there will no longer be a priest resident in the parish of Allihies. The reason for this decision is the reduction of the number of clergy ministering in the diocese. Over the past few years, the diocese has been preparing for  this day, but it is still a cause of great sadness. However, priestly ministry will continue to be available to the parish, but it will take a different form. Regrettably, this loss of a priest resident in the parish will be repeated in every one of the 12 pastoral areas of the diocese over the coming years. However, due to the preparation that has been underway over the past number of years, the new structures that are in place and the commitment of the clergy and the laity to work together, it is hoped that the situation can be managed well. It will also call laity to take their rightful place in leadership roles within parishes. Bishop Liam asks that we keep the priests and people of the Beara Pastoral Area in our prayers as they strive to respond to this new situation.

 Introducing the New Missal

From the 1st Sunday of Advent, November 27th 2011, there will be a New Missal for use at Mass throughout the English speaking world. It contains some changes to the people’s parts of the Mass.

What is the Roman Missal?

The term ‘Missal’ is used to refer to the book that contains all the prayers and instructions for the celebration of the Mass. The Missal is first written in Latin and this Latin text is then translated into the particular language of the people. In this way, while the Mass may be celebrated in many languages across the Roman Catholic world, it is the same core Latin text that is being prayed by the Church. We have been using our current Missal since St. Patrick’s Day 1975. It is sometimes referred to as the Missal of Pope Paul IV. Now we have a new edition of that Missal. (to be continued)

Benemerenti from Pope Benedict XVI

On Tuesday night next May 31st at 7.30pm Mass in St. Mary’s Church the faithful Parish services of Eileen Griffin and Mr and Mrs Angus and Mollie Moncur will be recognized with the granting of the Papal Benemerenti medal. We will also take this opportunity to honour the services of Mr. Jim McKenna as Parish Clerk and Archivist over the past years. As two members of the Moncur family are visiting us from England we are delighted to avail of this opportunity to honour the much valued service to our Parish of all the above named.

Dingle Parish Pastoral Council warmly invites all parishioners to participate in our celebration which will also be on view by means of our internet video streaming, Sruthlú Naomh Mhuire. You can access it on the following link http://www.naomhmuire.wordpress.com/video

The Benemerenti medal was instituted by Pope Gregory XVI in 1832 and is conferred on those who have exhibited long and exceptional service to the Catholic Church, their families and community. The word benemerenti (to a well deserving person) is on the back of the medal, surrounded by a crown of oak leaves; the ribbon is made of Papal colours, yellow and white. In 1925, the concept of awarding this medal as a mark of recognition to persons in service of the Church, both civil and military, lay and clergy alike, became acceptable.

Coiscéimeanna (Footprints)

Oíche amháin bhí brionglóid ag fear.

Bhí brionglóid aige go raibh sé ag siúl trasna na trá leis an Tiarna.

Trasna na spéire, bhí radhairc óna shaol le feiscint.

I ngach radharc,

thug sé faoi deara go raibh dhá shraith coiscéimeanna ann sa ghaineamh:

sraith amháin dá chuid féin,

agus an tsraith eile de chuid an Tiarna.

Nuair a chonaic sé an radharc ba dheireanaí dá shaol,

D’fhéach sé siar ar na coiscéimeanna sa ghaineamh.

Thug sé faoi deara go raibh a lán amanna ar chosán a shaoil

nach raibh ann ach sraith amháin coiscéimeanna.

Thug sé faoi deara freisin gur tharla sé sin ag na hamanna

ba bhrónaí dá shaol.

Chuir sé seo isteach go mór air agus chuir sé ceist ar an Tiarna faoi:

‘A Thiarna, dúirt tú nuair a dhéanfainn cinneadh tú a leanúint,

Go siúlfá liom an bealach go léir.

Ach thug mé faoi deara le linn na dtréimhsí ba dheacra de mo shaol,

Nach bhfuil ann ach sraith amháin coiscéimeanna.

Ní thuigim cén fáth, ag an uair ba mhó a bhí gá agam leat,

Go bhfágfá mé.’

D’fhreagair an Tiarna:

‘A mhac, a leanbh dhíl, tá grá agam duit,

Agus ní fhágfainn go brách thú.

Ag na hamanna a raibh buairt agus fulaingt ort,

Nuair nach bhfeiceann tú ach sraith amháin coiscéimeanna,

Is ansin a d’iompair mé thú.’ (Le Mary Stevenson)
