St. Joseph The Worker 2014
Dingle Liturgy Group will celebrate this year’s Feast day by honouring and offering the essential work of many tradesmen whose skill and craft brought relief to all who were affected by the major storms of Christmas and January last. In our special Vigil Liturgy of Wednesday April 3oth, this community work and service will be offered in prayerful thanksgiving together with the wonderful achievements of our young students of Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne agus Coláiste Íde in recent cultural, community service, liturgical and sporting activities on local and national stages.
Féile na Bealtaine
Féile na Bealtaine is organising the making of simple clay pots for release into the sea bringing people in the community together. The making of the pots will be held on April 22nd, in An Díseart from 12 – 4.00pm and 23ú Aibreáin i Halla Fionn Trá ó 12 – 4.00pm. The clay pots, when they have dried and are fired in a kiln, will be filled with candles and released onto the water at Milltown Bridge at twilight, Sunday May 4th, at approx 9.00 pm.
Corpus Christi 2014 / Neighbourhood Station Masses
In preparation for our annual Corpus Christ procession on June 22nd 2014 the neighbourhood Station Masses in town will begin with Mass for the residents of The Mall on this Thursday April 24th at 7.30pm outside Teach Caitlín. Consequently, there will be no Mass on these Thursdays in St. Mary’s Church, as these Masses are open to all parishioners in preparation for Corpus Christi Sunday June 22nd.

Our Patron Saints / Laochra an Chreidimh No. 92. Saint Peter had a brother called Andrew and they both worked as fishermen on Lake Genesareth. Saint Peter was the first Pope. Andrew introduced Peter to Jesus and Christ called Peter to become a disciple. Peter caught such a large amount of fish that he fell down at Jesus’ feet and was told by the Lord “Do not be afraid: from now on you will be catching men”. In Tiberias the Lord gave Peter the famous command to “Feed my Lambs … Tend my Sheep … Feed my Sheep”.

As we extend Céad Míle Fáilte to all our visitors, we offer sincerest buíochas ó chroí to all our generous helpers and collectors in the work of Lord. We thank all who took part our Holy Week Ceremonies and in particular to all who attentively look after our three Parish churches together with all who prepared and presented all our liturgies. Míle buíochas to the meitheal who put together our beautiful Easter Garden in St. Mary’s Church. Wishing all Parishioners a very happy and holy Easter.
Aiséirí Chríost in our Christian Heritage
When we speak of the Last Judgement we are more inclined to think of people being condemned to Hell rather than the blessed entering Heaven. Yet the whole purpose of creation, Redemption and God’s Providence, is that all should be among the blessed entering Heaven. Yet the balance must be struck. The Judgement is an article of Faith. This Judgement has featured in many famous paintings, the most notable one being that of Michaelangelo’s. But in the Irish High Crosses the Last Judgement finds artistic expression of great depth. In Muiredach’s Cross, in the Last Judgement scene, Christ stands holding a cross in one hand and a sceptre in the other. Above him is a bird, a Phoenix, the symbol of the Resurrection. An angel blows the last trumpet. Below Christ, St. Michael is shown weighing souls and thrusting his spear in the mouth of a demon who is trying to upset the balance. On one side is the company of the blessed, singing. On the other side the damned are being driven into Hell by the devil brandishing a trident. Angels hold a book … the Book of Judgement. We must find ourselves rejoicing with the blessed-rejoicing with the Risen Christ. Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!

During the Easter Vigil Dingle Parish Pastoral Council opens our Jubilee Year Programme commemorating the Blessing and Opening of our beautiful Parish Church on Easter Sunday 1865.
