Thought for the day: For many, it is seemingly possible to sleep-walk through life, to live on an entirely sentient level. Perhaps our current culture of distraction supports such superficial so-called living. Many, however, are dissatisfied and long for an awakening, a conversion, a transformation, for something more. Such a hunger of the heart is acknowledged in many religions and philosophies — Jesus’ teaching here could just as easily be on the lips of the Gautama Buddha. The difference for Christians is the grace of God in Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit. Ultimately, it is all grace, grace upon grace as the Prologue of John puts it. Prayer: God of all our awakenings, we know that the journey inward is the journey home. Keep our hearts restless until we come to rest in you. Amen.

Ash Wednesday March 2nd, is a day of fast and abstinence. To celebrate Ash Wednesday, you are invited to attend Mass that day at which ashes will be distributed. Lent calls us to ‘come back to God with all our heart’ and the practices of prayer, fasting and giving to charity are a way of making real our return to God. Ashes marking our foreheads remind us of our human frailty and our dependence on God.

Synodal Path: Pope Francis’s Invitation & Our Response. Pope Francis has invited every member of the Church throughout the world to share their experiences, insights and hopes for the Church. Every diocese has been asked to give opportunities for reflection, discussion and feedback in preparation for the Synod of Bishops in 2023. Here in the Diocese of Kerry there is the opportunity to share your thoughts on-line or to participate in person in the next 2 months. For details see: https://www.dioceseofkerry.ie/Synod

Daily Prayer for Synodal Listening
God our Father,
Pope Francis has asked us to pray, discuss and listen, so that we might grow stronger in communion, more aware of our mission,
and truly participate in the life of our Church.
May the Holy Spirit help us to hear His voice
during this time of listening in our Diocese.
We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Parish Masses: Following the Government announcement this week that most Covid-19 restrictions are being lifted, it will no longer be necessary to wear facemasks at Mass. However, should people wish to continue to wear masks, they are welcome to do so. The following measures will remain in place:
(i) Communion can only be received in the hand for the moment.
(ii) hand sanitisation is advised.
(iii) You can place your offering for the offertory collection in the building fund boxes at the back of the churches.

Your co-operation is very much appreciated.
