Thought for the day: The journey of life inevitably brings up the question what should I be, who should I become? Is life a maze or a labyrinth? Is it just round and round or is there a way out? How will I be as a spouse, a parent, a partner, a church member? Within the Christian project, do I feel myself called to “activate” my baptism is some particular ministry or contribution? Such discernment will take in the grateful acknowledgement of my gifts as well as an examination of my inner generosity of spirit. In reality, we are all called by the Lord to build up the body of Christ. It is not a question of if but rather of how.

Prayer: God of surprises, take me by surprise once more and let me see how my special gifts could be part of your project of the Kingdom in Jesus.

Pope Francis on X: At the start of the year, we exchanged wishes for peace, but weapons have continued to kill and destroy. Let us pray that those who wield power over these conflicts, may understand: War is, in itself, a crime against humanity.

Baskets for the Offertory Collection are now being used. Please contact the Parish Office if you would like to help. Míle buíochas to all those who have volunteered.

Catholic Schols Week begins this Sunday, 21- 27th January. The theme for 2024 is:  “Catholic Schools: Communities of Service”. We thank God for all our young people and their homes, for our schools and all school communities. We encourage that all parishes, all homes and all schools work together to give all children and youth the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Prayer: Lord God, we ask that you help us understand how to be a true friend to one another and to you. We are all called to treat everyone we meet with love, respect and kindness. Let our lives be known for serving you through serving others. Help us to always remember your commandment to love one another. Amen

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity (Thurs. 18th to Thurs 25th January, Feast of the Conversion of St Paul) This week has been celebrated worldwide since 1908. The theme this year has been chosen by an ecumenical team in Burkina Faso: “You shall love the Lord your God … and your neighbor as yourself.” Lk 10:27. God is love, love one another, – surely a theme that unites all Christians. Further info in English and Irish at: ctbi.org.uk/weekofprayer.
