Thought for the day: We do have the saying, “goodness is its own reward” and that, no doubt, is true. We don’t do good to be rewarded but simply because it is good. At the same time, goodness leads to goodness and kindness inspires kindness. This can be true at the most mundane level: if I am courteous and obliging, say, as a driver, perhaps others on the road will be inspired to be obliging and courteous in their turn. It is even more true at a higher level. Generosity of spirit inspires the same in others.

Prayer: Help us, Lord, to be kind and generous in our dealings with others today following the example of Jesus. Amen.

Pope Francis Tweet: Let us put a stop to torture!  It is essential that the international community put the dignity of the person above all else and dedicate itself without delay to abolish torture and provide support to the victims.

Prayer to Discover Your Vocation

God our Father, send workers into your harvest. May the Spirit we received in baptism touch the hearts of many to offer themselves in priesthood, religious life and other forms of service. Give the parents and families of our diocese the wisdom and courage to support young people in searching for and following the call of God in their lives, Amen. Contact info@vocations.ie

A Dhia uilechumhachtaigh, ós é d’Aon-Mhac a dúirt“Tá an fómhar fairsing agus níl ann ach meitheal bheag, tabhair mar ghrásta do fhir agus do mhná iad féin a thairiscint do do sheirbhís sa tsagartacht agus sa bheatha rialta agus saothar na hEaglaise a bhunú agus bhuanú sa bhaile agus i gcéin.”
