Presentation Day 2013
Aifreann agus Beannú Chlós
Sagart: As the Lord is our strength and our Saviour, we bring our prayers with confidence to Him.
1. For our Holy Father Pope Francis and our new Bishop of Kerry, Reamoinn de Brún, bless them and all Church leaders in their work and service. Lord, hear us.
2. For all the young people preparing for the sacraments, that they may come to know Christ as their friend and guide in life.
3. Venerable Nano Nagle made the decision to give up her life of luxury and privilege to become a nun. We pray for vocations to religious life.
4. Venerable Nano Nagle defied the Penal Laws to open Hedge Schools for the poorest children in Cork City. Bless the work of the Presentation Order all over the world today.
5. Venerable Nano Nagle’s followers set up our Schools during darker days in Dingle. We thank you Lord for their dedicated work and service in Corca Dhuibhne.
6. Venerable Nano Nagle’s spirit has inspired many. We pray today for all past pupils and teachers of our Schools in particular for those who are ill or carrying heavy crosses.
7. For all our beloved dead, for all associated with our Schools and all the Presentation Sisters who await the Resurrection in the nearby Convent Graveyard.
Sagart: Father, you sent us your Son as our King, our priest and our prophet: Hear our prayers and grant all our needs. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Miúin ar an Uisce – Tobar Nanó
Molaimis Dia a thug dúinn an t-uisce a ghealann ár snó.
Moladh leis a thugann dúinn fior uisce le hól.
Coinnímis an t-uisce glan ó gach truailliú.
Bainimis taitneamh as an abhainn ghlan ghlé.
Go raibh srutha anuas orainn ó Dhia na Glóire
Agus á leathadh againn inár dtimpeall ar na comharsain.
Ólaimis sláinte an Chruthaitheora san uisce beomhar.
(“An Sagart”: Mons. P. Ó Fiannachta)
Conclusion of the Year of Faith
Today we mark the close of the Year of Faith, the year declared by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI. As we mark the close of this year, we give thanks that the Door of Faith was opened for each one of us at baptism, and that Jesus Christ is always seeking our friendship and our company… We encounter him in prayer, in the Word of God, in our liturgies, through our engagement with all the demands that life makes on us and in learning more about our faith…

Deoraíocht
Táim anseo ar bhruach na mara
Le huaigneas i mo chroí,
Ag féachaint i dtreo an Bhlascaoid Mhóir
Siar ó Chuan Dhún Chaoin.
Níl duine ná deoraí ann
Ó d’fhágas an áit fadó,
Oileán scartha amach ón saol
Is beidh mar sin go deo.

Is cuimhin go deimhin na bóithre,
iad fraochach caol is ciúin.
A mhuintir idir óg is sean,
iad cneasta is cáirdiúil.
Ag brath ar shaol na mara
Is toradh an nádúir,
Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís,
Táid caillte againn go buan.

Dá mbeadh caoi agam chun filleadh
Bheinnse ann gan stró,
Droichead amach ón mórthir
seo Siar ó Chomineol.
Ach tá ann eadrainn is uisce,
An nuashaol dar ndóigh.
Tá mo smaointe ar an oileán sin
Is beidh said ann go deo.
(In omós do Thréigint na Blascaoidí 1953)
