Machnamh / Reflection

Loving God,
as a mother gives life and nourishment
to her children,
so you watch over your Church.
Bless these Women, that they may be
strengthened as Christian mothers.
Let the example of their faith and love shine forth.
Grant that we, their sons and daughters,
may honour them always with a spirit
of profound respect.
Grant this through Chris our Lord.
Amen

Mother’s Day

Prayerful good wishes to all mothers.
May we appreciate their love and kindness.

Just a Thought / Smaoineamh
The journey back was a sad, lonely, fearful one. It’s easy to come back home when you’re a hero laden with trophies and glory. But the prodigal son had no trophies to show his father, no achievements with which to earn his praise, his welcome, and his love.
The biggest discovery the younger son made was that he was loved in his sins. The father never stopped loving him. It doesn’t do one much good to be loved in one’s goodness. But it is extraordinary experience to be loved in one’s sinfulness.
