The Holy Ghost Missions

Representatives of the Holy Ghost Missions will preach at all Masses in our three Parish Churches next Saturday and Sunday the 10th and 11th of July.

Holy Ghost Fathers or Spiritans (C.S.Sp.,) as they are known in some countries are dedicated to the Holy Spirit, author of all holiness and source of the Apostolic Spirit. Their spirituality is always missionary – ministering to the poor and oppressed in may different countries and climes.

They express their Evangelical availability among peoples whether it is in communities of the Amazon River in Brazil or in South Africa, Kenya or Tanzania. In all they are in 65 countries. They arrived in Ireland 150 years ago educating and inspiring many to work on the missions. Responding to new challenges and realities they now work together in international groups, such as in Bolivia, Mozambique and Taiwan, etc.

In all places and in different cultures and languages they announce the Good News of God’s Love for every human person and emphasize Fraternity, Equality, Justice and Peace. They strive for a new heaven and a new earth.

First Friday Calls: Fr. Tomás Ó Luanaigh will make his calls on Friday next July 9th.

Paidir Phroinsias Naofa

Déan gléas chun síochána díom id láimh, a Thiarna
San áit a bhfuil fuath go gcuire mé an grá
San áit a bhfuil ciontacht go gcuire mé pardún
San áit a bhfuil coimhlint go gcuire mé aontú
In áit na hearráide go gcuire mé an fhírinne
In áit na doirheachta go gcuire mé creideamh
San áit in a bhfuil fulaingt go gcuire mé lúcháir

A Thiarna, deonaigh a spreagadh dhom
sólas a thabhairt seachtas sólas a fháil
dul i dtuiscint ar dhaoine  seachas go dtuigfí mé féin
Grá a roinnt ar dhaoine seachas grá fháil uathu
Mar is le linn dúinn tabhairt a fhaighimid féin
Is le linn dúinn pardún a thabhairt a mhaitear dúinn
Is le linn dúinn bás a fháil a théimid i seilbh na beatha síoraí.

Lt-General Dermot Earley’s Plan for Life

At the recent funeral of GAA star and distinguished soldier Lt-General Dermot Earley, mourners were told about his ‘Plan for Life’ and the advice he gave to young soldiers and cadets:

1. Enjoy time with my family;
2. Give the best to my work;
3. Give back to my community;
4. Spend my leisure time well;
5. Make time for God in my life.

Your attitude is more important than your ability.
Your motives are more important than your methods.
Your courage is more important than your cleverness and
Have your heart in the right place.

Every Christian and every priest should become, starting from Christ, a wellspring which gives life to others. We ought to be offering life-giving water to a parched and thirsty world. Lord, we thank you because for our sake you opened your heart; because in your death and in your resurrection you became the source of life. – Pope Benedict XVI, Closing Homily, Year for Priests
