Laochra an Chreidimh II – Patrons
St. Rita was born in Italy in 1381. She was forced into an arranged marriage with a terrible man who mistreated her for years. After 12 years her husband was killed and her two sons died shortly after. She entered the convent and followed a life of charity. After praying to Our Lord to let her suffer like him, she was struck in the head with a thorn from the crucifix. The wound never healed and caused her pain until she died on the 22nd of May 1457. Pope Leo XIII canonized Rita on May 24th 1900.
I chose St. Rita because the name Rita means Pearl and my birth stone is Pearl and I really like the name.

Columban Missionaries
Dear Fr. Tom,
Hope the sun is staying around Kerry this year.
Just a few lines to thank you and the people of your parish who have sent us up bags of coins. The banks are now reluctant to accept coins in old currency although they are still willing to take paper money. We can certainly get something for any sterling coins included. Still we are very grateful for the efforts people make to support us and to keep us on the road.
Best wishes and many thanks to all for their support,
Fr. Noel Daly, Mission Office.
