We are either optimistic or pessimistic or somewhere in between. The constant message from our Gospels is that there is always a bigger picture. If we take one event in isolation it can give a distorted view. It is easy then to ask ‘why’. But if we take the bigger picture, if we see life from experience, from a faith point of view, from the foundation of good sound values, then life can be viewed with some optimism. When others say ‘why’, we are in a better position to try and live with the ‘why’.
