Thought for the day: If any lesson were to be learned from times of recession, surely it would resemble today’s Gospel. Riches are precarious; material security is unstable; dreams of untroubled longevity are soon dispelled by “events.” Paradoxically, our experience of life as fickle can take us in quite opposite directions. We might be tempted to plunge ourselves into more enjoyment of the present moment, as St Paul caustically observes: “let us eat and drink, for tomorrow we die.” (1Corinthians 15:32) The road less travelled is to become “rich towards God.” It still means enjoying and living the present moment, but in a completely different, deeper and ultimately more lasting way. Prayer: God of wisdom, help us to see through all that is false yet enticing; be our guide on the path of life.

Pope Leo XIV on X: We are called to share our experience of faith with others, bearing witness to the love of Christ and becoming missionary disciples. Let us not limit ourselves to theoretical knowledge alone, but live our faith in a concrete way, experiencing God’s love in our daily lives.
Pope’s Intention for August: For Mutual Coexistence: Let us pray that societies where coexistence seems more difficult might not succumb to the temptation of confrontation for ethnic, political, religious or ideological reasons.
Sr Monica and Sr Anie from the Missionary Sisters of St Peter Claver would like to sincerely thank everyone who supported their missionary appeal in Dingle Parish recently. They would like to acknowledge receipt of €3,075 from their collections in Ceann Trá, Dingle and Lios Póil. Míle buíochas for your great generosity.
Prayer to Discover Your Vocation
God our Father, send workers into your harvest. May the Spirit we received in baptism touch the hearts of many to offer themselves in priesthood, religious life and other forms of service. Give the parents and families of our diocese the wisdom and courage to support young people in searching for and following the call of God in their lives, Amen.
