Work on an extension to allow for 100+ pupils and The Chapel began on May 2nd 1928. The workforce consisted of twenty men with Éamon Ó Siochrú as timekeeper, with Mr. Albery as architect and with Mr. Byrne as chief architect. Mass in the meantime was in Halla an Chaitheamh Aimsire (Recreation Hall).
When building was completed work on the Altar began in March 1930 and completed on April 6th of same year. The altar is of white marble and the original sanctuary surround was of white terazza a work of Italian craftsmen who had completed work on passage ways of the new building. A large arch, coloured stippled white, surrounded the altar with a groined dome roof. The whole effect was Hiberno – Romanesque.
The Stations of the Cross were of oak with Hiberno-Romanesque arches and pictures of enamel on tin (in case of dampness) – supplied by Egans of Cork. Gills provide the seats with places for 6 students in each.
The Church was dedicated on April 20th 1930 by Most Rev. Dr. Ó Brien, Bishop of Kerry.
Pastoral Visit of Bishop Reámoinn de Brún

Following the Vigil Mass in St. Mary’s, parishioners are warmly invited to attend and meet Bishop de Brún over a cupán tae in Gairdín Mhuire. Fáilte roimh cách.
Machnamh – Creideamh agus Beart
A watch may have a gold chain,
But if it doesn’t tell the time it is useless.
A fruit tree may be teeming with blossoms,
But if it doesn’t produce fruit it is useless.
A lamp may be studded with diamonds,
But if it doesn’t give light it is worthless.
And a faith that doesn’t result in good works is dead.
The fruit of prayer is faith.
The fruit of faith is love.
The fruit of love is service.
And the fruit of service is peace.

In this Year of Faith we as a Parish Community recognise the generous and voluntary service of all our parishioners. In particular we acknowledge the dedicated service of both Michael O’Connor and Celsus Sheehy to St. Mary’s for more than half a century as they created our wonderful Crib every Advent. We ask Bishop de Brún to present them both with the Apostolic Blessing of Pope Francis.
Go gcúití Dia a saothair dóibh.

Go mbeannaí Dia duit, a Mhichíl Naofa,
Go mbeannaí Muire duit, agus beannaím féin duit.
Is chugat a tháinig mé ag gearrán mo phéin’ duit,
Is ag iarraidh carthanachta as ucht Dé ort.

Cóineartú / Confirmation 2014
Confirmation candidates and their families are invited to sit at the front of the Church at this weekend’s Confirmation Enrolment Mass.
Celebrant: We gather this evening as a community of faith in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We welcome especially the young people who are preparing for Confirmation and those members of their families who will support them on that journey. As members of this faith community, we too will support and pray for them as they prepare to celebrate this sacrament. We ask God’s blessing on all who are gathered here and pray that our time of preparation for Confirmation may be filled with grace. Amen.
Enrolment Ceremony
The children stand and Bishop de Brún addresses them as follows:
Celebrant: As you prepare to be confirmed in your Faith at Confirmation, do you promise to take time to get ready to celebrate this important step on your journey of Faith? Candidates: We do.
Celebrant: Do you promise to try to spend time in prayer each day? Candidates: We do.
Celebrant: Do you promise to try and deepen your understanding of what it means to belong to God’s family by coming to Mass every weekend.
Candidates: We do.
Celebrant: Do you promise to try to be the kind of person that Jesus would want you to be – at home, in school and within the Parish Community?
Candidates: We do.
Celebrant: May God continue to bless you and may you know God’s love in your hearts and share it with others. All: Amen.
Promises of Parents (Who now stand)
Celebrant: Do you promise to help, support and encourage your child in their parish programme of preparation for Confirmation. Parents: We do.
Celebrant: Do you promise to try to be the best of teachers in the ways of faith by taking time to talk to them about their Confirmation, praying with them, bringing them to Mass and helping them to understand what being an adult member of the Church is all about. Parents: We do.
Promises of The Community
Celebrant: We ask everybody to stand and join with the candidates and their parents as together we journey towards Confirmation. As members of the family of God it is our responsibility to support, help and pray for the candidates. They are a reminder to us that through our Baptism we are all children of God.
Celebrant: Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth? All: I do.
Celebrant: Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Virgin Mary, was crucified, died, and was buried, rose from the dead, and is now seated at the right hand of the Father? All: I do.
Celebrant: Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? All: I do.
Celebrant: This our faith. This is the faith of the Church. We are proud to profess it, in Christ Jesus our Lord. All. Amen.
