Machnamh
Oh ever immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy,
Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners,
Comfortess of the Afflicted, you know my wants, my troubles, my sufferings.
Look upon me with mercy.
When you appeared in the grotto of Lourdes,
you made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favours, and where many sufferers have obtained the cure of their infirmities,
both spiritual and corporal.
I come, therefore, with unbounded confidence to implore your maternal intercession.
My loving Mother, obtain my request.
I will try to imitate your virtues
so that I may one day share
your company and bless you in eternity. Amen.

Smaoineamh
Fishing is a worthy calling. However, Jesus saw that Peter was capable of other things. He was the kinf of man he wanted to have helping him with his work. What qualities did Jesus see in Peter that made him call him to share in his work. What qualities did Jesus see in Peter that made him call him to share in his work? He had the first and essential one – faith in Jesus. He also had humility.
The Gospel story is not so much a story about fishing, but about trust. Jesus was saying to Peter. ‘How far are you prepared to trust me? It was a turning point in the life of Peter. What started out in failure ended in a new beginning, starting out in a new direction.

Pray for Tom Moran, Ballybunion and late of John Street.
Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
