Autumn Stations

The Eucharist – Communion with Christ and with One Another – this will be the theme of the Eucharistic Congress in Dublin in 2012, but could just as easily be a motto for the custom of Station Masses in the home.  When people gather for Mass in their local area it builds up a neighbourly spirit and strengthens faith in Christ.  In most areas of the parish, Stations have not been celebrated for a number of years.  However, it only takes one household to come forward to revive this tradition, and it only takes a handful of willing families in a Station Area to put it on a firm footing for the years to come.  There’s no need to make an extravagant ‘splash’ of hospitality – all that is asked is a warm welcome for neighbours and for Christ in the Eucharist.  Anyone interested in hosting Stations in their home this autumn should contact Tigh na Sagart on 066 9151208 during the coming weeks.

Year for Priests

WORLD MISSIONS – REACH OUT

“IMIGÍ FÉN DOMHAN AGUS FÓGRAÍGÍ AN DEA-SCÉAL”

Today, Mission Sunday, we are called upon to play our role in assisting the missionary activity of the Church. We are given the opportunity to share in the experience of our brothers and sisters who carry on the missionary task today as they Reach Out, often in difficult and dangerous circumstances. Our spiritual and material offerings are crucial for the continued work of missionaries throughout the world. The total raised in today’s collection will be sent in its entirety to support mission projects worldwide. Please give what you can, every gift – no matter how small – makes a difference.

Machnamh – Misean

Ciallaíonn an focal ‘caitliceach’ ‘uilchoiteann’ sa bhrí ‘ina iomláine’ nó ‘sa tslánchruinne’. Tá an Eaglais caitliceach ar dhá bhealach: Tá sí caitliceach mar go bhfuil Críost i láthair inti. ‘Mar a bhfuil Íosa Críost, is ann don Eaglais Chaitliceach.’ Is inti atá ar marthain iomláine Chorp Chríost agus é aontaithe lena Cheann. Is é is iarmhairt air sin go bhfuil faighte aici uaidhsean ‘iomláine na meán chun slánaithe’ ba thoil leis: dearbhú an chreidimh gan cham agus go hiomlán, cleachtadh na sacraimintí gan easpa gan chuimse agus ministreacht a coisreacadh i gcomhargacht in n-aspal. Sa chiall bhunúsach seo, bhí an Eaglais caitliceach fiú amháin ó lá na Cincíse, agus is amhlaidh a bheidh sí go lá an pharousia.

Tá sí caitliceach fós mar go bhfuil misiún uilechoiteann aici ó Chríost chuig an chine daonna ar fad: Gairtear an cine daonna ar fad le bheith ina chuid de Phobal Dé. Sin é an fáth ar dual don Phobal seo, tar éis di a bheith aonta agus gan a athrach eile ann, ar dual dó leathadh amach go críocha na cruinne ar fad agus go ceann na n-aoiseanna uile. Is amhlaidh sin a chomhlíonfar an méid ab áil le toil Dé, nuair a chruthaigh sé an cine daonna ina aontacht ón tús agus nuair a chinn sé go gcruinneodh sé a chlann scaipthe ar ais ina n-aontacht (…).Tréith seo na huilechoiteannachta atá ina comhartha sóirt ag Pobal Dé, tíolacadh de chuid an Tiarna féin is ea í. (830 & 831 –  Caiticiosma na hEaglaise Caitlcí) Caitlicí)
