Our 3 Christmas Cribs
Míle buíochas don mheitheal a chruthaigh iad go léir arís imbliana i S. N. Chaitlíona, S. N Eoin Baiste agus S. N. Mhuire. Dingle Parish Pastoral Council took the decision at our December meeting to share and forward your Crib donations towards the work of GIVE Ireland (The Gambia Ireland Volunteers in Education) founded by Joe Griffin of Lispole and to Mercy Sr. Sara O’Connor of Castlemaine who continues to serve in the Carmen Shanty Town Parish, Trujillo, Peru where Fr. Tomás Ó Luanaigh worked with her (1975-81).
GIVE Ireland was founded in 2009 to enable retired teachers to offer voluntary educational support to children in Gambia. Their service and ongoing project greatly benefits the Youth and family life in Gambia.
Mission to Peru: Sr. Sara is one of 7 Kerry Sisters of the Bon Secours(2) and Mercy Orders(5) who served in the Cork Mission to Peru set up in 1965 with 6 priests from the Diocese of Kerry. As missionaries they worked to build the Christian community with the dispossessed squatters on the desert outskirts of Peru’s 3rd city.

Bliain an Chreidimh – Our Patron Saints Laochra an Chreidimh No. 74.
Saint Luke is the only Gentile to have written books in the Bible. He is the writer of the third Gospel. Luke emphasizes Christ’s compassion for sinners and for those who suffer, instilling faith and hope in its readers. Luke was born a Greek and a Gentile in Antioch, Syria. He was a physician and it is believed that he may have been a slave, as it was not uncommon in that day, for slaves to be educated in medicine so the family would have a resident physician. St. Luke’s feast day is celebrated on October 18th. He is the patron saint of doctors and physicians. (Tommy – Scoil Iognáid Rís)
Parish Envelope Scheme and Calendar 2014
At this time households should have received a Féilire Eaglasta 2014 and a box of envelopes for your weekly offertory contribution. (You will note that your box number is different this year.) Also included is an envelope for your Christmas Dues contribution.
The offertory collection funds all running costs and maintenance in our Parish, including insurance, staffing and Diocesan Levy.
Tax can also be claimed back by the Parish from every taxpayer who contributes over €250 from next year. We invite every household to participate in this scheme and invite new parishioners to register by contacting the Parish Office on 9151208.
A full account of both income and expenditure will be published in the New Year. We thank all our collectors, Finance committee members, counting teams and teangmhálaithe / contact people who serve tirelessly in this essential Parish work.
Spare envelopes for Christmas Dues which help make up the Parish Priest’s salary will be available at the back of the three Parish Churches.
Spare 2014 calendars will also be available at the back of the Church for visitors or should you wish to send one to family members living elsewhere.
Go méadaí Dia bhúr stór.
The Parish Priest and all our parishioners are most grateful to all individuals and groups who have helped during the year: – Sacristans, Organists, the Choirs, the Servers, the Cleaners, flower and altar arrangers, crib makers and helpers, the Ministers of the Word and of the Eucharist, collectors, counters, those who distribute the envelopes to your homes; also our housekeeper and secretary. We wish to thank all teachers in the Parish and all the voluntary groups who do so much for the community – The St. Vincent de Paul Society, Legion of Mary, the Pioneers, the Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committee, the Liturgy groups, the Temperance Hall Committee.
Ráth Dé oraibh araon.
