Laochra an Chreidimh II – Patrons
Saint Katherine (Kitty): Katherine lived with her maid Mabel. One morning Katherine said I had a strange dream, I dreamed that we must sell this house and go and live in a town where the Church bells ring by themselves! So we must do that at once. So they went from town to town until a storm came and the wind blew the bells and they rang. So they moved in. Katherine helped everybody in the town. One day Katherine’s friends were coming to see Katherine’s new baby horse. But when they went outside the horse and its foal were gone. Katherine went to the Church to pray to get her horses back. When she left the Church she saw hoof prints. She followed them until she saw her horses and Mabel. She had stolen the horses. ‘I forgive you’, Katherine said. ‘It wasn’t your fault, the devil put the idea in your head.’ ‘Thank you’, said Mabel. And to this day the hoof prints are still on the rocks in Ledbury.
St. Katherine’s day is the 25th of November, which is a big day for my family. It’s my granny Kitty and my granddad Jim’s wedding anniversary, my uncle’s birthday and my Dad’s birthday.
I chose this saint because my granny was called Kitty. She died on September 3rd. Kitty was very close to me and I really miss her and when I take her name as my Confirmation name, I will never forget her.

World Day of Care of Creation
Pope Francis has designated Sept 1st World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation. He invites us to pray in gratitude for the world that God has entrusted to us and to act as protectors of God’s creation. On Tuesday, Sept 1st, let us renew our commitment to use wisely the gifts of the earth and stand in solidarity with those whose lives are most affected by climate change. For more information, www.dioceseofkerry.ie
Prayer of the Faithful
• We pray for all human beings, that we may be filled with a spirit of concern for the future of our environment; bring an end to the exploitation of the earth’s scarce resources; and live as responsible stewards protecting and respecting this gift of creation God has placed in our hands. Lord, hear us
• We pray that all may be filled with a spirit of awe and wonder for all that God has created; today we pray especially for brothers and sisters around the world whose lives are most affected by climate change.
Parish Meetings
Fr. Joe would like to meet the following in The Presbytery:
Ministers of the Eucharist from all three Parish Churches – Tuesday September 15th at 8pm.
Sacristans from all three Parish Churches on – Wednesday September 16th at 8pm.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (The RCIA)
After the summer break we are hoping, early in October, to resume the RCIA meetings. The meetings will be held in the Díseart 7.00pm to 8.30pm on Monday evenings and will be open to any person, not brought up in the Catholic faith but interested in learning more about it and about what it means to become a full member of the Catholic Church.
The meetings will be relaxed and informal and will consist of a brief presentation on the subject or topic of the evening given by a member of the RCIA team, which will be followed by time for discussion and sharing; then there will be a short period of quiet reflection and sharing on a passage of Sacred Scripture and will finish with a brief prayer service. At the end there will be time for light refreshments and a chat.
If you are interested, or if you know somebody who may be interested in joining the group please get in touch with the Parish Priest in your local parish or area who will be very happy to answer any queries you may have and will put you in touch with a member of the RCIA team.
(Fr. Jim Sheehy of the Chorca Dhuibhne RCIA team).

Machnamh: For the Parish we live in
Let us pray
For all those who have not yet got a home of their own
And for all who are badly housed,
For those who have come here from overseas,
That they may be received with hospitality,
And for all who live alone.
We also pray for those who live in luxury and wealth,
That they may keep their homes and their hearts open to those who are in need.

We pray for those among us who have been struck
By illness or misf0rtune
Or who are suffering any other trial,
For those who are bored or in anxiety or despair,
For all who have been taken away from our midst,
For those who have been sent to prison,
For the mentally ill
And for the dead and the dying.

Let us pray for ourselves,
That we may find happiness in this Community and that we do not destroy each other by spreading hatred and division, but that we may be,
With each other and as in one body,
The City of God on earth.
To be cont’d
