Just a Thought / Smaoineamh
The third Sunday of Advent is Gaudete Sunday. The word Gaudete means rejoice.
The presence of God is the cause of our joy. Isaiah said to the people, ‘Shout for joy.’ What is the cause of that joy? Because ‘God is in your midst.’ And Paul said to the Philippians, ‘I want you to be happy.’ Why? Because ‘the Lord is very near.’ The joy that this world cannot give is the joy that comes from a sense of God and his love for us.

Parish Envelope Scheme and Calendar 2016
In the next week households will receive a Féilire Eaglasta 2016 and a box of envelopes for your weekly offertory contribution. Also included is an envelope for your Christmas Dues contribution.
NB: Christmas Dues will be taken up as a second collection after Communion at all Masses on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day as you personal contribution for the clergy. If paying by cheque, please make cheque payable to Teach na Sagart for Dues and Dingle Parish for Parish.
Spare envelopes for Christmas Dues which help make up the Parish Priest’s salary will be available at the back of the three Parish Churches.
The offertory collection funds all running costs and maintenance in our Parish, including insurance, staffing and Diocesan Levy. Míle buíochas to the contact people who distribute them on behalf of the Parish. Buíochas ó chroí for your great generosity.

Christmas Carol Concert Sunday 13th December at 7.00pm in St. James’s Church, Dingle, featuring St. Mary’s Choir, Dingle Gospel Choir and guests. No admission but a collection will be taken up on the night in aid of Kerry Hospice.
Holy Door of Mercy in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Killarney will be opened by Bishop Ray on Sunday Dec 13th at 5pm. Everyone is invited to the ceremony, which will include the celebration of Mass, as we begin the Year of Mercy in the diocese.

Msgr. Pádraig Ó Fiannachta is travelling to America this month to receive an award from the Irish Consul General to New York which will honour his contribution to Irish Spirituality and Culture. Also on the same trip he will be attend a reception, in his honour, at The American Irish Historical Society organised to recognise his contribution to the Irish language and tradition.
