Machnamh / Reflection

C Is for Christ child who was sleeping on the hay.
H Is for heavenly host who worshipped him that day.
R Is for radiance on Mary’s holy face.
I Is for the lowly inn – a poor and humble place.
S Is for the star that shone to guide the shepherds there.
T Is for the Three Kings who brought him treasures rare.
M Is for the manger where he laid his little head.
A Is for the angles that hovered round his bed.
S Is for saviour who brought peace and hope on earth on the wondrous night we celebrate – the night of Jesus’ birth.
NB: Mass will be celebrated at 12noon on St. Stephen’s Day (Monday) in St. Mary’s Church.

Smaoineamh

Christmas gathers us all together in a great universal fellowship in the name of Christ. During Christmas we feel at one with everyone. We feel a desire to reach out to others. Christmas takes us out of our narrow world and breaks our selfish habits. It enables us to see selfishness and prejudice for what they are. We are put in touch with our common humanity, with our shared fears and hopes. God becomes one with us. Jesus is Emmanuel, God-with-us.

Pray for Liam Deegan, Mountrath, Co. Laois and Tralee; Dan O’Donoghue, Killerisk, Tralee. Suaimhneas síoraí dá n-anamacha.
