Thought for the Day: It is possible to live a merely sentient existence, paying attention only to the immediate and being satisfied once the urgent appetites are met. It is hard to say how many manage to sustain this form of sleepwalking! In our better moments, we all know that this is wholly inadequate, even on a merely human level. We are all of us called to rise above mere existence and to live life abundantly (cf. John 10:10). In the faith, the Advent call is to wake up from our slumbers. Metanoia (conversion or repentance) means a whole change of mindset, going right down to the roots of our being. It’s the only project. Of course, it takes time, but the time is now. Prayer: God of life abundant, may your advent call to life and love, hope and conversion touch us again and draw us closer to you. Amen.

Pope Francis Twitter: In the Season of Advent, let us be shaken out of our torpor to recognize God is present in daily situations. If we are unaware of his coming today, we will also be unprepared when He arrives at the end of time. Let us remain vigilant!
Priest on duty this Sunday:
Fr Eamon Mulvihill: 066-7139145.

Parish Envelopes 2023: If there are any Parishioners who would like to receive Parish Envelopes for 2023, please contact the Presbytery on 066-9151208 as soon as possible. Using the envelopes allows the Parish to claim back tax from PAYE Workers and Self-Employed who have contributed €250 or more during the year. Buíochas ó chroí for your great support and generosity.

We would be most grateful if the people that received the taxback letters recently could return the enduring certificate as soon as possible in the stamped addressed envelope. Fill in your PPS number and sign the cert. By completing the certificate you allow the Parish to claim back the tax without any cost to you. Many thanks for your generosity.

Vocations: ‘Just as John the Baptist answered the call to be a “voice in the wilderness” to “prepare a way for the Lord” – we pray for those in our society who are called to be the voice in the wilderness of our modern society by living their lives in service as a priest, deacon or religious.’ If interested in becoming a Priest, please contact Fr Michael Moynihan.
