Thought for the Day: The start of a new year gives us pause to reflect on the twelve months just past and to look forward to the next year of our lives. There is always darkness and light. Still, we are sustained by this great hope, taken paradoxically from the Book of Lamentations: The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases, his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:22–24) Prayer: All time is in your hands and so we dedicate ourselves to you at the start of this New Year. May your grace be with us always and may we recognise your presence in all we meet and in all that happens. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

CDs of The Exile’s Return, by Fr Pat McCarthy, an original song which has been composed and recorded as a tribute to the victorious Kerry team and management are available at €10, from the Parish Office.

Tap to Donate terminals are now located at the back of St Mary’s Church. Machines are programmed to donate €5 to the Parish each time they are used.

Fr Eoghan Ó Cadhla – 066-9156131.

Vocations: ‘Just as John the Baptist answered the call to be a “voice in the wilderness” to “prepare a way for the Lord”, we pray for those in our society who are called to be the voice in the wilderness of our modern society by living their lives in service as a priest, deacon or religious.’ If interested in becoming a Priest, contact Fr Michael.

Remember, O Most gracious Virgin Mary that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy hear and answer me. Amen.

Paidir do Lá Caille
Urnaí a múineadh i m’ leanbh dom féin, dúiseacht le dúthracht ar ghairm na n-éan,
mo ghlúine a ligean fúm ag achairt chun Dé, chun an Úrmhic a bhí go túirseach ag sileadh as a ghéag’. ‘Rí na n-aingeal, na n-aspal, na bhfáidh is na gcliar, A Íosa a rugadh i d’ leanbh, id’ dhuine is í d’ Dhia, iarsma ‘chuirim ort, a Mhic Athar na ngrás atá fial, trócaire do m’ anam, is maith dom a ndearna riamh.
