Beannacht Dé on Fathers’ Day 2012
Let us pray:
Dear Lord, we who are fathers need your help.
You have placed in us the care of each other and of our children.
Give us the strength and patience to cope with the many ups and downs of family life.
Grant us the grace to be deeply thankful for its many laughs, joys and blessings.
Let our children come to know of your love through our love for them.
Help us as we try to make ours a home where love dwells, a home like that of Jesus, Mary and Joseph in Nazareth.
When we fail each other and when we hurt each other, soften our hearts so that forgiveness and reconciliation comes quickly and easily.
Protect this family, Lord, and let it flourish in your light and in your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

“Communion with Christ and with one Another”
(Eucharistic Congress Theme)

Eucharistic Congress Prayer
Lord Jesus,
You were sent by the Father to gather together those who are scattered.
You came among us, doing good and bringing healing, announcing the Word of salvation
and giving the Bread which lasts forever. Be our companion on life’s pilgrim way.
May your Holy Spirit inflame our hearts, enliven our hope and open our minds,
so that together with our sisters and brothers in faith we may recognise you in the Scriptures
and in the breaking of bread. May your Holy Spirit transform us into one body and lead us to walk humbly on the earth, in justice and love, as witnesses of your resurrection.
In communion with Mary, whom you gave to us as our Mother at the foot of the cross,
through you may all praise, honour and blessing be to the Father in the Holy Spirit and in the Church, Now and forever. Amen
Focal Scoir – Congress 2012
“When we started preparing the 50th International Eucharistic Congress, we always spoke of it as a journey, leading to an encounter with Christ. Many of you have lived this journey in your parishes, schools and religious communities over the past two years. As with many journeys, the point of arrival turns out to be another point of departure; the pilgrimage continues.
The real challenge of the Congress is that we continue to walk in communion with Christ and with one another. The Congress challenges us to grow into a deeper understanding and a richer celebration of the Eucharist in our own communities. It also challenges us to go out from our place at the table of the Lord to “become what we have received”, offering the gift of ourselves in service of one another and in the work of justice, because “though we are many, we are one body in Christ”.” (Fr. Kevin Doran, General Secretary of IEC2012)

Eucharistic Exposition and Benediction

“The worship given to the Trinity of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit… must fill our churches also outside the timetable of Masses… This worship must be prominent in all our encounters with the Blessed Sacrament… Adoration of Christ in this sacrament of love must also find expression in various forms of Eucharistic devotion; personal prayer before the Blessed Sacrament, hours of adoration, periods of exposition – short, prolonged, and annual (Forty Hours) – Eucharistic benediction, Eucharistic processions, Eucharistic Congresses… Let us be generous with our time in going to meet him in adoration and in contemplation that is full of faith and ready to make reparation for the great faults and crimes of the world. May our adoration never cease.” (Blessed John Paul II)

A Íosa Mhilis
A Íosa mhilis, Sweet Jesus,
Ní suíochán duit My tongue is no fit
mo theanga, lodging;
Ní lóistín duit mo chroí But only give me
Ach bronn orm do your blessedness
Bheannaitheacht And let it remain
Is go bhfana sé ‘gam chuí. with me forever.
(An Chanónach P. Sears, Fr. Tomás Ó hÍcheadha,
Mons. Pat Ahern, Trad.)
Though we are many
Curfá Though we are many, we are one body,
we who come to share this living bread;
Cup of salvation, shared among the nations,
nourishing us now and evermore.

We gather in this place
round the table of the Lord.
Christ’s presence is revealed
in our communion and his Living Word. Curfá

Now our communion recalls
Christ’s death and resurrection.
This living sacrifice
is our salvation now and evermore. Curfá

And through this shared Eucharist
we are the living Church.
We witness to Christ’s love
His living body active in our world. Curfá
(Bernard Sexton – 50th Intl. Euch. Congress Hymn)
