Thought for the day: Bodily hunger and thirst are easy to recognise, we feel them directly. The deeper hungers can take longer, especially in our “culture of distraction” where there is so little room for reflection and real conversation. These hungers are just as real, of course, and call for recognition and response. But the first step is really awareness and attention to the hints and nudges life provides. Prayer: You have formed us for yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in you. Amen.

Pope Francis – Tweet: Jesus summarized his commandments in a single one: “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn. 15:12). To love like Christ loves means to put yourself at the service of your brothers and sisters, especially those in greatest need, as we are and with what we have.

Praying for families: The Church celebrates the World Meeting of Families in Rome this week. Love, compassion and forgiveness are at the heart of family life. As we approach the feast of the Sacred Heart on Friday, you are invited to pray for all families.
Jesus, Lord and Saviour, you have shown us your love in your care for all, especially those in most need. We ask you to show this love for our family, those sick and well, at home and those away. May we live in your heart, young and old in our family, As you make your home in the heart of each of us. Make strong our faith in you and in each other, Enliven our hope and make us joyful in love. Protect us all and welcome home those of the family who have gone before us. We pray this, in gratitude for our family life, And with the prayers of Mary, our Mother. Amen.
