Jesus, our friend,
we thank you for the courage of St. Brendan,
Patron of our diocese.
He wanted to love God with all his heart,
and learned all about God on his travels.
Help me to journey beyond the familiar
and into the unknown.
Give me the faith to leave old ways
and break fresh ground with You.
Christ of the mysteries, I trust You
to be stronger than each storm within me.
I will trust in the darkness and know
that my times, even now, are in Your hand.
Tune my spirit to the music of heaven,
make my obedience count for You.
Give me a loving heart that love you
and show love to others. Amen.

Peace is not the same as tranquillity. Tranquillity is external. Peace is essentially internal. Peace is a state of inner calm, and designates right relations with God and with others.
Peace results when one trusts in God, and when the desire to please him is the dominant thing in one’s life. This is something which we can have even in the midst of turmoil, conflict and unresolved problems. Jesus offers his peace to us: ‘Peace I leave with you.’
