Laochra an Chreidimh II – Patrons
Naomh Patricia: Rugadh Pádraig sa Bhreatain Bheag. Bhí a athair Calpurnius ina shagart, agus bhí a sheanathair ina shagart chomh maith. Nuair a bhí Pádraig sé bliana déag d’aois gabhadh é, agus choimeádadh mar phríosúnach é ar feadh sé bliana ar Sliabh Mis i gCo. Aontroma. Bhí sé ag tabhairt aire do mhuca ansan thuas. Is minic ocras a bheith air agus bhí air bia na muc a ithe. Is i rith an ama seo a d’fhás a spioradáilteacht agus chaith sé cuid mhaith den lá ag guí. Deirtear go ndúirt sé céad paidir ar maidin agus céad tráthnóna. D’éalaigh sé óna mháistir agus chuaigh sé thar n-ais go dtí an Bhreatain. Lean sé leis ag déanamh staidéar ar an gCríostaíocht. Bhí brionglóid aige faoi Éire agus chuala sé muintir na hÉireann ag glaoch air.Tháinig sé ar ais go hÉireann chun scéal na Críostaíochta a scaipeadh.
De réir an scéil d’oirnigh sé sagairt, bhaistigh sé a lán daoine agus d’éirigh leis a lán daoine a iompú leis an gCríostaíocht. De réir an tseanchais d’úsáid sé an tseamróg chun an tAthair, an Mac agus an Spiorad Naomh a mhíniú do mhuintir na Éireann. Is mar gheall ar sin go bhfuil an tseamróg mar shiombal againn do Lá le Pádraig. Deirtear gur dhíbir sé na nathracha nimhe as an dtír seo. Níl aon fhianaise go raibh nathracha nimhe riamh in Éirinn, dá bhrí sin is dócha gur finscéal é. Phioc mé an t-ainm Patricia toisc gur roghnaigh mo mháthair Muriel an t-ainm chéanna dá cóineartú féin. Is maith liom an t-ainm go mór. (Ava – Scoil an Ghleanna)

Paidreacha roimh na Scrúduithe
Lord,
I ask You to help me at this stressful time. I feel that so much depends on these exams. I feel that in addition to carrying my own burdens, I am carrying the expectations of so many others – family, friends, society.
Help me to keep calm at this time, so that I can think straight and apply myself to the best of my ability. Let Your Spirit help and inspire me, so that I can remember all that I have studied and put together my answers in the best way. Guide me in all my ways, so that I will find fulfilment in You. Amen.

Tréithe Thomáis Ághas 1885-1917
“B’iontach an dea-shampla den Chríostaíocht a thug sé do gach aon duine,” a deir Liam Sabháiste ina thaobh, “é i gcónaí in am trátha i séipéal an Choláiste. Fear ba ea é a ghlacadh na sacraimintí go mion minic. Focal míbhlasta níor tháinig riamh as a bhéal.
Is cuimhin liom Féile Choirp Chríost a bheith ann nuair a tionóladh mórshiúl in onóir na Naomh-Shacraiminte. D’éirigh Tomás agus cúpla duine eile (bhí mé féin ina measc), ar a ceathair a chlog ar maidin chun lámh chúnta a thabhairt ag maisiú an bhóthair ba chóngaraí do thalamh an Choláiste. Lean seisean den obair go dtí am bricfeasta ar a hocht a chlog. Ba bheag leis dua ar bith dá leithéid.”
(An tAthair Seosamh Ó Muirthile C.Í.)
