Thought for the day: In our ordinary world, words such as compassion, forgiveness and reconciliation convey an essential, if difficult and at the same time joyful, human task. In our world of faith, we add other words, such as mercy and grace, which make us conscious of the free gift, unalloyed, with no conditions attached. Our role is not to “retain the sins of any” precisely so that they may know, at our hands, true forgiveness. In our Gospel, Peter is not reproached; rather he is set free. That is love, the only commandment. Prayer: Lord Jesus, help us all to hear your invitation, “Do you love me?” and set our hearts free to practice forgiveness.

Paidir taréis Comaoine (Leanaí)

A Thiarna Íosa, gráim agus adhraim thú.

Is tú mo chara dílis.

Fáilte romhat, a Thiarna Íosa,

go raibh maith agat as teacht chugam.

Go raibh maith agat, a Thiarna Íosa

As ucht tú féin a thabhairt dom.

Cabhraigh liom do ghrá a léiriú

Cibé áit a mbím.

Bí taobh liom, a Thiarna Íosa, fan in aice liom go deo. Beannaigh sinn, na páistí, atá faoi do chúram agus tabhair ar neamh sinn chun cónaithe leat féin.

Táim réidh anois, a Thiarna Íosa, tá grá agam go leor. Táim réidh anois, le do ghrá a thabhairt sa bhaile is don saol mór.

The Memorare Prayer

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.

Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.

To thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me.   Amen.
