Multi-Intentional Masses 2014
Dingle Parish Pastoral Council has taken the decision to make an alteration to our practice of Multi-Intentional Masses in St. Mary’s Church. As from Saturday January 4th 2014, we are offering parishioners the possibility of booking a Shared Mass on the occasion of the 8pm Vigil Masses of our Saturdays and Holydays instead of the Fridays as is our present practice. We remind you that the recommended Diocesan Mass offering of €20 is given to the celebrant and all extra contributions go directly to the nominated charity of the Bishop of Kerry which is the Sick and Retired Priests of our Diocese Fund.
NB: Bookings for Masses in our Parish for 2014 will be received as from Monday 18th November when the Diary for 2014 will be available. Office Hours: Mon., Wed.; Thurs., Fri. 2-6pm and all day Saturday.
Bliain an Chreidimh – Our Patron Saints Laochra an Chreidimh No.68 & 69.
St. Laurence O’Toole became a monk and abbot of Glendalough. He was made Archbishop of Dublin in 1162. He returned to Ireland after the Third Lateran Council as papal legate in 1179. He died at Eu in Normandy seeking to make peace between Henry II and the Irish rulers in 1180. His feast day is on Nov. 14th.
Ár gCóineartú
Confirmation is about making a mature commitment to the promises that our parents and godparents made for us at Baptism. It brings a deepening and a strengthening of our baptismal gifts and empowers us in our Catholic lives.
The Year of Faith, declared by Pope Benedict, ends on the Feast of Christ the King, November 24th. He wrote a letter which he called “The Door To Faith” to the one billion Catholics to teach and encourage us all in our Christian lives. He reminds us that one of the main ways we can show our Faith and that we believe in Jesus is by doing works of real charity day by day. He explains how the Latin word for love and charity is the very same – CARITAS – meaning loving kindness. We are encouraged to show the love of Christ in all we do at home, at school, at prayer and at play. Bishop Ray, who will confirm you on March 19th next took as his motto “Love One Another”.
You are asked to make a decision about the Patron Saint you have chosen as your Confirmation Patron. As you outline your choice please show how your Patron believed in Jesus and all He stood for. Show how your Patron lived a life of Faith and good works of Charity. Show how you too hope to journey in Fait and Charity along what our people have long called “Cosán na Naomh”.
Please hand in your completed script to your Class Teacher before next weekend, Nov. 17th. We hope to publish your work in our ongoing series of “Laochra an Chreidimh” sa Nuachtlitir and hopefully in booklet form as a “Year of Faith” project. “Spiorad Dé Tharainn”

Candidates together with their parents / guardians are asked to sit in the front seats please. Candidates will present the Prayers of the Faithful at our 3 Confirmation Masses this weekend. We welcome and thank them for leading our congregations at prayer and the adults who present the gifts.

NB: Next Ár gCóineartú Liturgy will be our Advent Jesse Tree on the weekend November 30th/December 1st.
Cóineartú – Confirmation 2014
Confirmation will take place on Wednesday March 19th, 2014 at 2.00pm in St. Mary’s Church.
Venerable Nano Nagle

O God, Who enkindled in the heart of Your servant Nano Nagle, the fire of Your love, and a consuming desire to serve You in any part of the world, grant that we also may love You, and make You much loved. And if it be for the glory of God, and the salvation of souls, grant that soon she may be raised to the altars of Your Church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen
