Priest on duty this Sunday:
Fr Michael Moynihan 087-6551902.

Act of Spiritual Communion
My Jesus, I believe that you are
present in the Most Holy
Sacrament. I love you above
all things, and I desire to
receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot at this moment
receive You sacramentally,
come at least spiritually into
my heart. I embrace You as if
You were already there and
unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated
from You. Amen.

Prayer of St Teresa of Avila
Let nothing disturb you,
Let nothing frighten you,
All things are passing away:
God never changes.
Patience obtains all things
Whoever has God lacks nothing;
God alone suffices. Amen

A Prayer for Sustainability
As we breathe the very air which sustains us,
We remember your love, God which compels us.
Fill us with the spirit to seek understanding.
Empty us of apathy, selfishness and fear.
Fill us with compassion and generosity.
Empty us of all pessimism and hesitation.
Breathe into us solidarity with all who suffer
beneath the crossroads of pollution and poverty. Breathe us into action building your sustainable kingdom. (Source: Reflections collated by Anne M. Holton)

October is Mission month and normally there is a Diocesan Collection held. This year it was due to be taken up on the weekend of the 17th/18th October. Instead there will be envelopes at the back of the Church which can be placed in the Building fund boxes.

Covid-19 – Level 3
Implications for Parishes
As and from midnight October 6th, 2020 the country moves to Level 3 restrictions for a period of 3 weeks. The impact on Parish activity and religious services is as follows:-

1. No Public Masses, masses on line only.

  1. Churches may remain open for private worship.
  2. In the case of funerals, a private funeral will take place due to Government advice regarding public gatherings. A maximum
of 25 people may attend a funeral.
  3. Weddings may take place but no more
    than 25 people may attend.
  4. Baptisms are not permitted.
Parish Offices will remain open but subject to strict compliance with all social distancing and hand sanitisation requirements. Face coverings must be worn by anyone visiting the Parish Office.

Thought for the day: In the parables of Jesus, wedding feasts are mentioned from time to time. The original parable may have ended with the words “invite everyone you can find to the wedding.” The detail of the troops – highly unlikely as an actual part of a wedding invitation(!) – realistically portrays the later destruction of Jerusalem, which Christians did indeed look back upon as punishment precisely for that rejection. The final verse is difficult for us today on a spiritual level. However, it is meant to provoke (re)conversion in a possibly (!) complacent church. Prayer: Lord, we know that you love us and invite us to the wedding feast of the Lamb. Help us to respond to your love that we may be followers of your Son not only in name but also in fact.

Lectio Divina on Zoom: Starting Thursday 15th October for 6 weeks, 7.30 – 8.30p.m.
We will begin each week by watching a short video which corresponds with the upcoming Sunday’s gospel. To participate, please email: alphakerry2020@gmail.com
