Urnaí Lá Féile na Beatha

Gabhaimid buíochas leat a Dhia

As an mbeatha a bhronnadh orainn.

Deonaigh go mbeidh meas agus urraim againn ar an dínit uathúil a bhaineann le cách, agus ar an gcion tairbhe a dhéanann gach duine againn I saol an domhain, agus sinne ar fad ag comhlíonadh na hoibre a bhronn tusa orainn.

Deonaigh trí do ghrásta féin go mbeidh ar ár gcumas leas an uile dhuine againn a chur ar aghaidh sa saol,

Agus sinn ag freastal ar a chéile I spiorad na flaithiúlachta trí Íosa Críost Ár dTiarna. Áiméan.

Only the great certitude of hope that my own life and history in general, despite all its setbacks and failures, are held firm by the indestructible power of Love, and that this gives them their meaning and importance, only this kind of hope can then give the courage to act and to persevere.’

Enquiring about the Catholic Faith – RCIA

The parishes of the Corca Dhuibhne Pastoral Area – Annascaul, Baile an Fheirtéaraigh, Castlegregory and Dingle recently launched their joint RCIA programme. The RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is the programme of preparation for preparing interested non-baptised adults and non-Catholic Christians for full membership of the Catholic Church. The RCIA is not simply a course of instruction or teaching, but aims to be a process of initiation gradually introducing interested enquirers to the example and teaching of Jesus Christ and the life, teaching and practices of the Catholic Church. To assist in this process, a small group of people – Sheila O’Donnell, Geraldine O’Mahony, Barbara Prendergast and Fr Jim Sheehy – has been preparing to offer this programme in our Pastoral Area. Their responsibility will be to help and guide those interested on the journey of enquiry. Details from Parish clergy.

Ráth Dé ar an obair.

Introducing the New Missal on Nov. 27th

Where do I find the changes in the people’s prayers at Mass?

The Mass missalette and the congregational card will have all the prayers and responses that are changing. These are also available on www.catholicbishops.ie and www.liturgy-ireland.ie, accompanied by brief video explanations. There are new translations of ‘I confess’, ‘Glory to God in the highest’, the Creeds, the acclamations in the Eucharistic Prayers, ‘Lord, I am not worthy’ and a number of other prayers and responses, which are very slightly changed; for example, in the Holy, Holy, we say ‘Lord God of hosts’ and in the response to ‘Pray, brothers and sisters’, the addition of one word, ‘holy’ before ‘Church’; where we responded ‘And also with you’, we now say ‘And with your spirit’.                                            (to be continued).
