A Jubilee Machnamh
The following prayer was found written
Over the door of a church:
‘Lord, make the door of this house
Wide enough to receive
All who need human love and fellowship,
Narrow enough to shut out
All envy, pride and strife.
Make its threshold smooth enough
To be no stumbling block to children,
Nor to straying feet.
Make this house a house of prayer
And a gateway to your kingdom.

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (The RCIA)
After the summer break we are hoping, early in October, to resume the RCIA meetings. The meetings will be held in the Díseart 7.00pm to 8.30pm on Monday evenings and will be open to any person, not brought up in the Catholic faith but interested in learning more about it and about what it means to become a full member of the Catholic Church.
The meetings will be relaxed and informal and will consist of a brief presentation on the subject or topic of the evening given by a member of the RCIA team, which will be followed by time for discussion and sharing; then there will be a short period of quiet reflection and sharing on a passage of Sacred Scripture and will finish with a brief prayer service. At the end there will be time for light refreshments.
If you are interested, or if you know somebody who may be interested in joining the group please get in touch with the Parish Priest in your local parish or area who will be very happy to answer any queries you may have and will put you in touch with a member of the RCIA team. (Fr. Jim Sheehy of the Corca Dhuibhne RCIA team).
Machnamh Don Chrois Naofa
A Chrois Naofa, is mo naomh dúchais,
Mo chlaíomh is mo chlogad in aghaidh gach conncúis,
As ucht na fola do doirteadh gan chúis ort,
Lá cruaigh an tSléibhe bím soar fá d’ chumhdach.

Go mbeannaítear duit, a Chrois,
A bunneáin ghléigil úir.
Go mbeannaíthear duit, a Chrainn
Ar ar céasadh Críost.
Go mbeannaíthear duit, a Rí
Do síneadh ar an gCrois.
Impí ‘chuirim chugat
Gach small peaca dá bhfuil ar m’anam
É ‘leagaint ar an gcolainn,
Ós í is mó ‘rinne an choir.

Ó namhaid mo chreidimh, ó namhaid mo thire,
Ó namhaid mo chalainne agus mo chéile,
A Thiarna, dean mo choimrí
Le fíor na Croise Naofa.
