Machnamh

I stand before You today, Lord,
ready for the challenges
that this new week will bring.
Help me to keep the spirit of Your word alive
in my heart and to remember that
You are always with me, at home, at work,
among friends or strangers,
faced with struggles or joys.
Be with me, Lord, and guide me,
wherever I may go. Amen.

Smaoineamh
The question Jesus asked the apostles is the most important question in the Gospel. It concerns the identity of Jesus. He asked the question not for his own sake but for their sake. A question forces people to think about their beliefs. It is important for us to come up with our own answers; to be able to state our own values and beliefs as Christians. It is no longer sufficient merely to repeat the official answers. We have to make the faith our own for it to be alive and influential in our lives. Our parents’ faith is not ours until we walk the journey ourselves. We need to grow in our understanding of the faith. We must believe out of personal conviction. The more of such people we have in the Church, the more it is founded on rock.

Pray for Micheal Ó Sé, Gáirdín Mhuire and Baile an Mhúraigh; Alec Granville, Feothanach; John Griffin, The Wood; Micheál MacGearailt, An Neidín agus Baile na nGall. Suaimhneas síoraí dá n-anamacha.
