Shared/Multiple Intentional Masses
Owing to the fact of lesser public Masses in St. Mary’s and given the wish of parishioners to request Mass for their intentions, the decision has been taken to offer the Friday 7.30pm for Shared or Combined intentions. Such has been the pastoral practice in Kerry urban parishes for some time and will hopefully facilitate our own parishioners if they so wish.
As the recommended stipend for an announced Mass in Kerry Diocese is €20 which the celebrant receives all extra offerings will be sent by the Parish to the nominated charity of the Bishop of Kerry which is The Education of Priests and The Sick and Retired Kerry Priests’ Fund. All requested intentions, will appear on the newsletter (once requested before publication) as usual. Enquiries, please contact 066-9151208.

Séasúr Craobh na hÉireann 2012
Ceal Físe, Meathann Muintir
On an evening early in September, I stood in mid-pitch in Croke Park. The great stadium was empty and silent.
The golden summer had ended. Dusk had gathered. Bales of dark cloud reared above the city.
Unbidden, a phrase came into my mind.
Without a vision, the people perish.

Today we Irish stand at a crossroads. At this moment, too, we stand at the centre of the vast web of our people.
Let us prove worthy of the year, the day, and the hour. And in the long years that lie before us let us not forget the phrase:
Without a vision, the people perish.
Bryan McMahon

In ómós do laochra na bliana ó An Mhí, Áth Cliath, Chill Cheannaigh, Dún na nGall, Gaillimh, Maigheo, Tiobraid Árainn agus Mná Chorcaí agus na Ríochta.

A Chairde Gaeil:
Lá ceiliúradh. Lá comóradh.
Lá cuimhne ár gcine.
Ólaimís sláinte na cuimhne!
Céad slán. Céad fáilte.
Buíochas mór le Dia.

Turas Thobar Mhichíl (29/9/2012)
An sagart óg a réitigh an Bord ina altóir
Agus a stiúraigh an slua ó aithrí go Glóir
Is le héisteacht le Briathar Dé ag fógairt
Is ag ceiliúradh bua Mhichíl ar Shátan.
Nuair d’ardaigh Mariam a guth binn
San Allelúiá, mhúscail na héinne
Agus baineadh macalla as gach tigh sa chóngar.
D’inis an soiscéal go raibh aingil suas is anuas
An dréimire ón dtobar chun na bhFlaitheas.

Lean aitheasc ón seana-shagart,
Aitheasc a bhí trom diaga ar dtús…
Ach le hachainíocha cásmhara don óg don sean
Don lag don tnáite, don ainniseoir, don bhocht, don deoraí,
Don chléir, don Eaglais, is don Phápa, is do gach éinne
A d’imigh uainn ar shlí na fírinne le bliain anuas.
Bhí glaoch ard in aghaidh na doininne.

Go mbeirimid beo ar an am seo arís.
Mil Bhaile Aimín Treaint: Mons. Pádraig Ó Fiannachta

St. Michael’s Well is located in Baile Móir at the side of the road approximately 2 miles west of Dingle on the road to Fionn Trá. All welcome to the Pattern Day Mass.

St. Michael the Archangel
St. Michael (meaning “Who is like God?”) appears in the Old Testament in the Book of Daniel and in the New Testament in Revelations and the Epistle of St. Jude. St. Michael is the patron saint of warriors in general and paratroopers in particular, of police officers, swordsmen, and manufacturers of scales and balances. Sceilig Mhichíl bears his name.
The Year of Faith – Series of talks in An Díseart
Just a year ago Pope Benedict XVI announced that the Church would launch a “Year of Faith” on the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Second Vatican Council; that is on the 11th of October of this year.
He suggests that this would provide a good opportunity to help people understand that, in the words of Blessed John Paul II, the texts bequeathed by the Council Fathers, have lost nothing of their value or brilliance.
And goes on to say: I feel more than ever in duty bound to point to the Council as the great grace bestowed on the Church in the twentieth century: there we find a sure compass by which to take our bearings in the century now beginning.
To mark the “Year of Faith” a series of 8 talks will be given by Fr Jim Sheehy, at An Díseart on Wednesday Evenings, 8.00pm to 9.30pm, beginning on Wednesday 10th of October. Contact: 066-9152476.
Further details on the programme will be available next week. Everybody is welcome to participate.
