Aifreann Dé ar Raidió na Gaeltachta

We urge you all to intensify our demands to re-establish Sunday broadcast of Aifreann Dé. We acknowledge the positive support of many local political representatives and more recently both Minister Eamon Ó Cuiv T.D. and Michael Ring T.D. for their public interventions in this appeal. Also, the Sunday Independent and Irish Catholic.

Letter from America

“Listening to Aifreann an Domhnaigh is an easy way to strengthen the Gaelteacht.  As a gaelgeoir who rarely has the chance to hear Irish, I would give anything to be able to listen to the Mass in Gaelic and pray with our people in our own tongue.”

An tAthair Páraic Ó Bráincin, Tulsa, OK.

Castlegregory GAA Abú

Comhghairdeas ó chroí dar gcomharsan a bheir an chraobh i bPáirc an Chrócaigh an Domhnach seo caite. We salute Colm Geaney and his victorious 35 man panel as they emulate Finuge, Ardfert and Skellig Rangers in capturing AIB GAA Junior All Ireland honours. Commiserations to a gallant Spa, Killarney team who just fell short in their Intermediate Final.

An Athlete’s Prayer

Lord God,

We thank you for continuing health of mind and body.

We thank you also for good sporting competition and for success and failure when they come our way. Help us to compete to the fullness of our abilities but not to make winning at all costs the pinnacle of our ambitions.

If we achieve success may we accept it with gratitude. Comfort us with the realisation that it is often on the anvil of failure that true character is moulded and shaped.

We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. AMEN

Cóineartú Pledge

Parents and Confirmation children are invited to occupy the front seats of the Church.

Gealltanas chun Staonadh ó Dheoch Mheisciúil agus ó Dhrugaí

Seasann na leanaí agus labhraíonn an sagart leo:

A Dhaoine óga,

Seasann sibh anseo i measc bhur gclann agus phobal an pharóiste. Seo iad na daoine a thug an creideamh díbh. Leanfaidh siad ag tacú libh agus sibh ag fás.

An gealltanas seo atá á thabhairt agaibh is gealltanas speisialta é idir sibh agus Dia na Glóire. Tugann sé fianaise dúinne atá bailithe anseo. Beidh cúnamh agus treoir bhur dtuismitheoirí ag teastáil uaibh chun an gealltanas seo a chomhlíonadh.

Mar sin iarraim oraibh: Ar labhair tú le do thuismitheoirí / chaomhnóirí faoin dainséar a bhaineann le deoch mheisciúil agus drugaí?  Leanbh: Labhair.

Sagart: Ar gheall siad cúnamh agus tacaíocht a thabhairt duit chun an gealltanas a choimeád?:  Leanaí: Gheall

Sagart: Iarraim ort anois an gealltanas chun staonadh ó deoch mheisciúil agus ó dhrugaí a thabhairt.

Leanaí: Geallaimse (Ainm), go staonfaidh mé ó dheoch mheisciúil go dtí go mbeidh mé ocht mbliana déag d’aois agus ó dhrugaí ar feadh mo shaoil. Iarraim ar an Spiorad Naomh, ar mo chlann agus mo chairde cabhrú liom an gealltanas seo a choimeád.

Sagart: Gurab Críost bhur neart agus sibh ag iarraidh an gealltanas seo a choimeád. Iarraimid é seo trí Chríost ár dTiarna.  Pobal: Amen.

Suíonn na leanaí agus seasann an pobal

Sagart: A thuismitheoirí agus a phobal an pharóiste bailithe anseo inniu an ngeallann sibh tacaíocht agus cúnamh a thabhairt do na leanaí seo chun an geallantas seo a choimeád?

Pobal: Geallaimid

Sagart: Go neartaí Dia sibh. Go gcabhraí Sé libh dea-shampla a thabhairt do na leanaí seo. Go bhfoghlamaí sibh óna bhfianaise anseo inniu. Iarraimid é seo trí Críost ár dTiarna.  Pobal: Amen.

Confirmation Pledge

The children stand and the priest addresses them as follows:

My Dear Young People,

You stand here among your families and parish community. These are the people who have passed on the faith to you. They will continue to support you as you become adults. The pledge that you have chosen to make is a special promise between you and God. It also gives witness to us who have gathered here. You will need help and guidance from your parents in this undertaking. And so I ask you:

Have you discussed the dangers of the abuse of alcohol and drugs with your parents?

Children Respond: I have.

Priest: Have they promised to help and support you in keeping your pledge? They have.

Priest: I now invite you to take the pledge of abstinence from alcoholic drink and drugs.

Children: I (Name), promise to abstain from alcoholic drink until I am 18 years of age and from drugs for life. I ask the Holy Spirit and my family and friends to help me keep this promise.

Priest: May the Lord be your strength as you try to be faithful to the promise you have just made. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  All: Amen.

The children sit and the community stand.

The Priest says: Do you the parents and the community gathered here today promise to help these children to keep their pledge? Community Response: We do

Priest: May God strengthen you. May he help you to give good example to these children. May you learn and benefit from their witness this day. We ask this through Christ our Lord. All: Amen.

Blessing for a Lay Missionary

“Imígí faoin Domhan uile

Fógraígí an Dea-scéal”

Guímis,

God our Father, Lord of the harvest,

continue to guide and empower

the worldwide mission of the Church,

so that your desire to make disciples

of all nations may become a reality in our day.

Inspire all those engaged in the missions

with zeal, strength, perseverance and hope,

so that, having gone forth to sow the seed

of your Word in every land,

they may rejoice in a rich harvest

of souls for the kingdom of God.

We make our prayer through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen

Presentation of Mission Cross and Crib Cheque to Liz Uí hUigínn

Lord, we ask you now to bless Liz,

Who leaves us to share in this work of mission.

Protect her on her missionary journey to Kokstaed, South Africa.

Open the hearts of all who meet her

That they may accept her in love.

Guide her with the gifts of the Holy Spirit

That she may be an instrument of your grace.

Give her courage and peace at all times.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. AMEN
