Blessing of the Advent Wreath

O Lord our God,
You have brought us again to this holy season
You have nourished us and called us to be your own.
You are with us always.

We bless the wreath of this holy season.
An endless circle of God’s Presence.
An ever-green, ever-fresh outreach to us and all people.
A Light of the World.
May this wreath always speak to us of the
Presence of God in our lives.

O God, our Father and Mother bless us.
You have given each of us unique gifts.
May we share the gifts we have and
grow in strength and love.

Com Lord Jesus, like the dawn from on High,
Give light to those in darkness
and guide us into the way of peace.
Lord God, all things are made holy by your Word.
Grant that we, who in the weeks to come will watch this wreath ever-increasing light, may prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ.

What is my wish, desire during this Season of Preparation, longing and waiting?
The Advent Wreath
Placing four candles on green fronds has become a symbol of Advent in many Christian homes, especially in Germanic countries and in North America.
The Advent wreath, with the progressive lighting of its four candles, Sunday after Sunday, until the Solemnity of Christmas, is a recollection of the various stages of salvation history prior to Christ’s coming and a symbol of the prophetic light gradually illuminating the long night prior to the coming of Jesus.

Pray for Pat McAuliffe, Baile an Chóta. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam.
