Persecution of Christians Today
In Pakistan 85 people died when two suicide bombers rushed the Anglican All Saints’ Church in Peshawar, and in Kenya, an assault on a Catholic church in Wajir left one dead and two injured. The International Society for Human Rights, a secular observatory based in Frankfurt, reports 80 per cent of all acts of religious discrimination in the world today are directed at Christians, making them by far the most persecuted religious body on the planet and especially across the Middle East.
According to the Pew Forum, between 2006 and 2010 Christians faced some form of discrimination, either de jure or de facto, in a staggering total of 139 nations, which is almost three-quarters of all the countries on earth. In effect, the world is witnessing the rise of an entire new generation of Christina Martyrs.
Machnamh
“No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.”
Nelson Mandela.
